Diving deep into the mysteries of Microtubules, Consciousness, and Quantum Biology!

No brain? No problem! A simple single-celled organism without a brain or neurons appears to be capable of an advanced form of learning. Scientists have discovered that Stentor coeruleus, a giant single-celled organism, is capable of advanced associative learning. It can connect different stimuli without a single neuron—just like Pavlov's dogs! repo.enc.edu/2026/03/13/a-s… #DiverseIntelligence #Microbiology #ScienceNews #biology #StentorCoeruleus #CellularCognition #STEM #ScienceTwitter #Research #SamuelGershman@ gershbrain.bsky.social

@Millbstrd @StuartHameroff Can I ask a more concrete question, how does quantum behaviour in microtubules implement threshold gating in a noisy biological system? i.e. how does it determine when a signal crosses a threshold and triggers a change in behaviour vs being suppressed?

We’ve been lied to about medicine. We think health is a chemical balance, a cocktail of pills and biologics. But what if the "pharmacy" is actually a circuit board? Recent data shows Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) is matching the power of heavy-duty drugs for RA and Lupus—without the toxic side effects. By pulsing the ear or neck at 20Hz, we aren’t just "treating" symptoms. We are hijacking the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway. We are literally "zipping up" cytokine storms by signaling splenic macrophages to stand down. If an ear clip can reduce TNF-α by 45% and CRP by 65%, why are we still addicted to systemic immunosuppressants? The future isn't a new molecule. It’s a new frequency. Is your body a chemistry set or a computer? If we can hack the neural brakes on inflammation, the entire pharmaceutical model is obsolete. We aren't just patients; we are programmable systems. It's time to stop medicating and start modulating. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

unpopular opinion about mental health that will put you in this position??

@StuartHameroff Orch OR still has the hard problem of how consciousness cartoonishly sprung into being before microtubules existed in the early universe.

🚨 New preprint from SEMA Lab! 🚨 We applied our tFUS meditation enhancement protocol to a two-week meditation training course in a placebo-controlled design. We found that participants who received active tFUS to their PCC showed increased desegregation between Default Mode Network (DMN) and Central Executive Network (CEN), a signature of long-term meditation practice. This desegregation effect correlated with increased spontaneous sitting time and increased self-reported acceptance. This landmark trial shows that we have the potential to *vastly* accelerate meditation training -- those early days, weeks, years when the practitioner is still searching for the groove of deep practice. We thank David Creswell and Emily Lindsay for their pioneering 2-week meditation training protocol, which we adopted for this study. Also thanks to Joy Ventures for their funding support, Matthew Sacchet @MatthewSacchet, and all our generous supporters. @ShinzenYoung @JaySanguinetti
