If you vote for a party every time but aren’t a registered member, you are just a loyal voter who gets no say in the primary process. In terms of electoral strategy it really offers you nothing. You are simply less enfranchised.

It's funny..."Independents" in America decide elections. There's damn near as many of them as there are Republicans. Yet no one is apparently willing to believe they actually exist. The number of times I am told I'm a Democrat (with Dem presidents you can reverse this) is crazy.

Democratic socialism isn’t required for a single thing you listed and it’s why you lose. Those “neoliberal freaks” are 80% of the voters. You could do so much more as new deal democrats and you abandon it for a meaningless socialist aesthetic that turns off voters.

That model does require a market economy (as China well knows) but does not require Chinese style social credit scores or stifling FoS

In regards to a lack of imagination, it isn’t very difficult to imagine China with more rights/freedoms. That’s essentially what the Nordic model offers.

I don’t think it’s possible to create a state powerful enough to ensure the means of production to the worker without also crushing individual rights, political dissent, and speech. The best we can do is heavily regulate a market economy
