The peptide meta on #DeSci is dead already… Look at that chart. $46K mcap. $2K mcap. -87% in 24h. These are not research projects. They are the same "AI swarm analyzes peptide sequences" narrative copy-pasted 15 times with a different ticker. It is the AI agent meta all over again. Hundreds of projects, same pitch, same nothing underneath. But here is what nobody is talking about. DeSci as infrastructure is still almost completely unexplored. SportFi x DeSci. Imagine athlete biometric data owned by the athlete, funded by fans through tokenized research grants, with performance studies running on community compute. No sports agency taking 20%. No pharma company owning the IP. Climate science. Open datasets funded by token holders, researchers paid in real time as milestones are verified on-chain, results permanently stored and publicly accessible. No grant committee gatekeeping what gets studied. Longevity and aging research. The most underfunded category in all of science relative to its potential impact. A decentralized funding layer could route capital directly to labs that institutional money ignores. Mental health and psychedelic research. Still stigmatized by traditional funding bodies. DeSci removes the gatekeeper entirely. Materials science, energy, food systems. All of it sitting there with no decentralized funding infrastructure. The projects that survive will not be the ones that rode a peptide narrative for two weeks. They will be the ones that built the rails for how science actually gets funded, verified, and rewarded. The meta is dead. The space is not even close to being explored. #DeSci has potential don’t let it die out because of “peptides”

@dara_venture do you invest in what you want to see brought into the world, or are you beholden to a strict thesis and the best deal terms in the inbound tranche that month?

Sending cold decks consistently is lazy and most founders know it deep down. Making yourself so visible, so credible, so impossible to ignore in your market that investors come looking for you takes graft and effort and in reality, is a future test against your ability to execute and overcome adversity. Real uncomfortable "put-yourself-out-there" graft. But the founders who do it never struggle to raise.

Crypto Twitter COULD be the biggest catalyst and growth lever for the industry & builders here. Instead, it’s a CIRCLEJERK of engagement farmers who do fuck all onchain and have the biggest egos in the world. It’s very telling that barely any companies are hiring ‘CT leads’ anymore. Not because there’s no existing community here, but because the biggest voices in this existing community are fucking clowns.

observation: the next generation of seed winners wont look more polished. theyll look weirder, leaner, and more machine-amplified. small teams, violent iteration speed, ugly internals, absurd output. a lot of legacy VCs are about to confuse unfamiliarity with risk and miss another cycle for the exact same reason.

it doesn't have to be tough to grade DeSci projects from an investment perspective. just look at the incentive structure just like you would a DeFi app. does value accrue to token holders or not? if not, what's the value prop of holding the token? governance? pff... access to ground-floor investment opportunities? okay cool. future value tbd? nope. is the team all scientists or are there some web3-native people there to market it, get it listed, provide liquidity, etc...? same lens of evaluation. little to no knowledge of science is required unless you're chasing moonshot drugs/cures and then you're just placing bets on if the team can achieve a breakthrough and if it can get certified. all of which are very longtail plays. hope this helps.

DeSci is one of the scammiest crypto narratives that ever existed, in my opinion. I would be extremely careful buying anything in this narrative. Science has nothing to do with cryptocurrency and does not require it for anything.
