@SamaHoole If you made it to 18, the life expectancy in 1900 was 67. Infant and childhood mortality lowered the average
English

"Life expectancy has doubled since 1900, so clearly modern food is working."
Yes. Brilliant point. Absolutely watertight.
Tell me, when you picture a Victorian dying at thirty-eight, what do you think killed him?
Was it the butter on his bread?
Was it the lard in the pan?
Was it the grass-fed mutton? The eggs from the yard? The unpasteurised milk straight from the cow he could see from the kitchen window?
Or was it cholera, tuberculosis, dysentery, smallpox, sepsis from a splinter, childbirth in a room with no soap, a boiler explosion, a coal mine, a war, a workhouse, and the entirely reasonable medical practice of being bled by a man with a leech?
We did not extend life expectancy by replacing his lard with sunflower oil.
We extended it by inventing the toilet, the antibiotic, and the idea that surgeons might wash their hands occasionally.
The margarine is doing nothing. The margarine is, if anything, slightly working against the project.
The plumbing did the heavy lifting. Give the plumber a statue.

Yes. He’s the most famous entertainer in history.
All of the entertainers you mentioned can sit courtside at a NBA game. Michael Jackson could not. @MagicJohnson told the story of how he invited MJ to a Lakers game and it created so much chaos, they had to stop the game. MJ had to leave because fans were leaving their seats to try to get to him.
None of the people you mentioned have that level of fame where they can’t attend public events.

Is Michael Jackson really bigger than Eminem, Jay z, Lil Wayne, Taylor swift, Rihanna and Beyonce all put together?

@fantomastisch The real reason they keep their arms like that is because they usually have a twelve-pack in each hand.

@james_f_thomas Gauche is a tough one but anyone who listened to Herman’s Hermits knows silhouette.

@MediumSizeMeech I thought gauchos were cowboys from Argentina.

Coolers are always drinks first then ice on top. Allow gravity to do its thing
If you’d like, you can then add a little water

@CaptainCons What’s the proper layering for a cooler ? Is it ice drinks ice ? Or drinks first and a ton of ice on top ?

A hot rotisserie chicken should have been allowed on SNAP a long time ago.
It makes no sense that someone could buy soda and snack food but not a cooked chicken that can become dinner tonight, lunch tomorrow, soup, tacos, or chicken salad later in the week.
That is the kind of cheap, useful grocery store protein that helps a family stretch food.

@ProudSocialist The space aliens have forbidden the use of nukes.

@realcountry1953 In the 1950s, Akron was home to more people who were born in West Virginia than any city in West Virginia.

Born, raised, and never left Ohioan here.
This is spot-on.
Southern Ohio, where I live, is STILL hick filled, thankfully.
DAC Banned Record Bootlegger@Bdubs1776
Dudes screaming “He was Akron not the south” have never been to Ohio which, in DAC’s time, was as hick filled as south Georgia.

@Airaasayss 51 people enter the room. It doesn’t say how many were already in the room. Push the red button.
