Just got home from the viewing. I know I already said this but, my grandpa is truly the best person I’ve ever known. He spent the entire time consoling everyone else. It still makes me so angry that he has to go through this. Also, my oldest decided she wanted to go with us. The last time she did something like this was when my grandma died. She had such a hard time and at one point told me “mama. The sad is too loud.” But she told me she wanted to go so she could “hug grandpa” and to “support her family”. She still had a hard time but she did so well. When we first got there she stood in front of the casket and I condo tell she was struggling a little. So o went over to her and put my arm around her. She put her hands over her face and whispered “I love you aunt Paula.” Then, towards the end, I could tell she was teaching a breaking point. I said “we’re almost done can you hang in there for a little bit longer to support your family?” And she stopped for a second and said “I think this is all the support I have to give.” Which gave us a much needed giggle. Overall, she was champ and I’m so proud of her. Funeral Monday. Not looking forward to it. Weather is supposed to be nasty too.
