@grunden_jerry @BernieSanders Your dumb enough to think that if we taxes the rich 100% that would suddenly solve our problems. Reality it wouldnt make a dent.

Mr. Bezos: Let's have that debate. Under my 5% billionaires wealth tax, we'd: -Give $12K to a working family of 4 -Expand Medicare for dental, vision, hearing -Guarantee universal childcare -Raise starting teacher pay to $60K And you'd still be worth $269 billion after taxes.
More Perfect Union@MorePerfectUS

Jeff Bezos on CNBC: "If people want me to pay more billions, then let's have that debate, but don't pretend that that's gonna solve the problem. You could double the taxes I pay, and it's not gonna help that teacher in Queens.... Airbnb isn't causing high rents. What's really causing high rent is government intervention."

@reddit_lies I used to think 80s fashion was silly, but now I realize it was leagues above what the new gens are doing these days. What is even going on with these kids? They all seem miserable.

@CabelasCrusher @HakureiRyan @nickycantaloupe That wasn't the point I was making because I was talking about spend to income as a proportion. Someone making 100k spending 200 a week on uber eats is a smaller fraction than someone making 20k spending 200 a week on uber eats.

"Buying lunch out every day was never affordable" Bitch just 15 years ago $5 worth of fast food could feed you for an entire workweek. That's less than 1 hour of minimum wage pay by the way! Boomers are desperate for us to forget that at one point fast food was price competitive with cooking at home. In fact this strat right here likely came in under the per-meal cost of anything you could make at home for the same amount of calories and fillingness. Remember, these used to be bigger, they have shrinkflated in addition to becoming more expensive.

@CabelasCrusher @HakureiRyan @nickycantaloupe The 25-44 age group accounts for the most active users on DoorDash, with 46.4% aged 25-34 and another 39.1% aged 18-24. They aren't spending a lot out at restaurants, but i bet if you looked at it proportionally to income its a big chunk of change.

@CabelasCrusher @HakureiRyan @nickycantaloupe That's a fair point to be honest and stats can always be cherry picked. I do think the trend aligns with what I notice anecdotally. Are you seeing different in your life? I have a few cousins in the Gen Z category and almost all of them spend their paychecks on doordash.

@NoNameGirl8686 Also growing up concerts, movies, bowling, amusement parks, sports games - I could do only one of those maybe once a year...it was a rare treat. Rest of the time was spent outside with friends or getting together at our houses to do stuff...video games, board games, etc.

What else is there to do? They can’t afford concerts, movies, bowling, amusement parks, sports games, clubs, etc. Is the American dream now to sit in your house eating PB&J except for when you are at work?
Jeremiah Johnson 🌐@JeremiahDJohns

The biggest thing happening behind the scenes in the "expensive lunch" discourse is that Zoomers are eating out at ridiculously high rates. It's a silent assumption for a ton of young people that restaurants are a basic necessity, not an occasional treat.

@NoNameGirl8686 Who the hell associates eating at home with some sad sandwiches? You can make far more delicious, healthier, and FAR cheaper meals at home and it requires zero skill. I can think of about 50 different dishes off the top of my head that can be made in a crockpot.

@DrewSul22351735 @mysticalcolt @financedystop I tip well, but a tip is exaxtly that - non guaranteed extra determined by the customer. There is no "supposed" to be. I bussed tabled for a decade and the number of bad tippers were so few it rarely even came up...but maybe times have changed

@SarasAwfulMom @nsource_64 @middle_class_us Looks like regular price is $1.50. But when did shoppers stop looking for sales? Every store has sales weekly. Buy what is on sale and save tons of money. We can all plan ahead and shop smarter.

They say “groceries are cheap.” Where? Show me the $1.99 milk. Show me the $2 eggs. Because in America, cheap groceries are a myth.

@UncleSamSux @nickycantaloupe So now we've dropped this ridiculous notion and we're on to personal insults. I'm so happy I used to take y'all for a ride selling your generation cable and internet packages that no one needed.

@HakureiRyan @nickycantaloupe Also the beefy 5 layer has always been a smaller burrito - the bigger one was the burrito supreme and even that is small in terms of a burrito. Your whole premise is gaslighting and dishonest

@UncleSamSux @nickycantaloupe Why are you still on this gaslight that that's a small burrito? It was literally the largest burrito they had at the time of its release and it's still a good sized one. You're out here gaslighting that it's a fucking roll-up

@HakureiRyan @nickycantaloupe I dont think sandwiches are a good meal but if you think a single small taco bell burrito even from 15 years ago is a good nutritious meal? Then no point in really having a conversation your mind is made up despite people suggesting good and cheaper alternatives

@UncleSamSux @nickycantaloupe The gaslighting is insane. That's literally still a good sized burrito, even with the shrinkflation from 2010, and it hits a good balance of macros. This coming from the "people" who think 2 slices of shitty deli meat and a square of cheese is enough nutrition for a meal.
