This signifies that a CA remains vigilant and maintains sound judgment even when others are inactive.
You should appreciate a CA firm willing to work on Sunday to meet the audit deadline. Also, the auditor did not override any protocols; in fact, he requested to follow the rules and obtain approval for opening on Sunday!
We auditors have a huge responsibility towards depositors, all stakeholders, the government, and the nation!

The problem is not that auditors telling branch to open the branch on holiday
The real problem is the Banks Central Offices mailing the auditors to complete the branch audit by 10-13 April every year.
When the audit timelines are strict, then time will be taken out of holidays.

🚨 Banks closing Books and CBI closes Corrupt Bankers!
Five years’ imprisonment + ₹13 lakh fine for a former @TheOfficialSBI BM and an associate in a ₹1.8 crore housing loan fraud case.
While bankers across the country are busy with year end closing, the Central Bureau of Investigation is also doing its own “closing” cracking down on fraud within the system.
Banking is built on trust, and when insiders break that trust, the damage goes far beyond money.
Yes, corruption even massive corruption exists in almost every sectors in India but at the very least, our banking system must remain clean and accountable.
Strict and fast-track punishment for such frauds is the need of the hour. Only then can we protect the integrity of the system and the honest bankers working day and night.

A letter issued on @canarabank letterhead from the Lead Bank Office, Etah raises serious questions about governance, accountability, and misuse of authority.
→ The letter is signed by DM (Etah) not LDM.
→ It directs #UPGB to open branches on 31st March (financial year-end) and ensure:
100% target achievement under CM-Yuva Rozgar Yojana
❗ Key Concerns:
1. Why is a District Magistrate signing on a bank’s letterhead?
Is the administration now officially operating through PSU bank identities?
2. Why last-day pressure?
If targets were known all year, why push compliance on 31st March, the most chaotic day in banking?
3. Forced lending = Future NPAs?
When banks are pushed to “complete 100% targets” overnight,
→ Due diligence suffers
→ Credit quality drops
→ NPAs rise
4. Targets vs Reality
The letter itself admits:
→ Target: 400
→ Sanctioned: 358
→ Disbursed: 342
Yet instead of reviewing quality or bottlenecks, the focus is:
Complete 100% at any cost.
The Bigger Question: Is this financial inclusion or financial compulsion? When governance turns into target-driven coercion, it doesn’t create entrepreneurs. It creates bad loans.

PNB Lucknow Circle’s fresh blow to employee rights (25.03.2026 order)
Despite 27.03.2026 being a declared NI Act + UP Government holiday (following 26th Ram Navami), the Circle Head has ordered all branches operational with compulsory full attendance of officers. No workmen to be called, no leaves sanctioned except “unavoidable” cases.
This repeats the Bulandshahr diktat… forcing work on a public holiday. It crushes work-life balance, spikes mental & physical fatigue (already at 62% burnout levels in Indian bankers), and violates the Right to Reject extra duty under Article 21 & 23.
Year-end targets cannot justify bonded labour. Enough!
