Things we know for sure about Dawn Staley:
3× National Champion.
6 consecutive Final Four appearances.
Multiple-time SEC Champion.
2× Naismith Coach of the Year.
Olympic Gold Medalist—both as a player and a coach.
And most importantly, if you come for her, just know you’re getting the full-court press. So don’t shake unless you want to get shook.
We ride at DAWN.

I've been considering these exact same things. With weightlifting, I'm quite certain I'm as strong as (or nearly there) I will ever be. It's time to refocus on maximizing enjoyment of activities.
I recently purchased an eBike and rediscovered my love of bicycling. When I ride I feel like I did when I was a kid riding my Schwinn around town. It's awesome.

I’ve had the privilege of practicing in the same region for nearly 25 years. I’ve gotten to know many of my patients well. Some thrive despite the years; many don’t. Long ago, that observation started to quietly shape how I approached my training.
Then aging started catching up with me, too. Not with limitations per se, but with longer recovery burdens, lower injury thresholds, etc.
That observation long ago is the reason I train the way I do. Not to look a certain way and certainly not to compete or hit a particular number on my watch. I train for life. I train to keep my opportunities open — to hike, climb, play tennis, travel, and stay physically capable of doing the things that (for me) make a life worth living well into my seventies, eighties, and beyond. That’s the goal. Everything I do and write about is in service of that goal.
So I decided to write a long-form article that not only details what my weekly training looks like but also dives deep into the science behind why I chose to train this way.
Strength training alone isn't enough. We can't just move heavy objects forward and backward. I strongly feel there's so much more to a proper fitness training program when your goal is to lead an active, fulfilling life and avoid the narrowing of our lives that aging often associates with.
I include a lot of videos and a downloadable guide at the end.
