Migration is not the crisis. The crisis is the world’s collective failure to manage migration together. We need cooperation across borders, governments & societies to show how multilateral cooperation delivers in the lives of migrants & the societies they strengthen.

Migration is an inevitable human reality. The question is not whether migration is good or bad. The question is whether we manage it well and manage it together. At the 2nd International Migration Review Forum, Member States reviewed progress in the implementation of the Global Compact. Engagement has deepened and cooperation has expanded. But much more remains to be done in order to make migration a triple win: for migrants, countries of destination and countries of origin.

GDP is the most widely used metric of economic progress & well-being. But it cannot be the only one. GDP is indifferent to whether income goes to billionaires or to the poor – or if that income goes to addressing hunger, health or deprivation. Let’s count what matters: Health. Biodiversity. Job-creation. Human rights. Equality.

NITI Aayog organised the NITI-SSM Workshop on #SDG5 in collaboration with Gates Foundation, Government of Gujarat and IIM Ahmedabad, bringing together States, policymakers and development partners to accelerate #WomenLedDevelopment through evidence-based action at the district level. Smt. Annpurna Devi, Minister of Women and Child Development, Government of India, launched the SDG 5 State and District Reports and emphasised the importance of quality data, robust ecosystems, tech-enabled monitoring systems and time-bound evaluations for dynamic policymaking. Dr. Manisha Vakil, Minister (WCD), Government of Gujarat, Dr. M. Srinivas, Member, NITI Aayog, Mr. Stefan Priesner, United Nations Resident Coordinator (UNRC), India, and Prof. Bharat Bhasker, Director, IIM Ahmedabad, among others, graced the Workshop. During the inaugural session, Dr. Manisha Vakil stressed the need for stronger implementation, convergence and targeted interventions aligned with local realities, while Dr. M. Srinivas emphasised scaling successful models across regions through a shared Sankalp for inclusive development. UNFPA India convened a workshop on disability inclusion across its programmes and initiatives, bringing together colleagues, partner UN agencies, Breaking Barriers Fellows, and Adi Yuva Fellows—fostering diverse perspectives and a shared commitment to inclusive development. The event featured demonstrations of innovative products and programme interventions, highlighting efforts to make services more accessible and responsive. A key highlight was the launch of “Embedding Disability Inclusion Across the UNFPA India Mandate – Annual Report 2025,” reinforcing UNFPA’s commitment to integrating inclusion across all areas of its work.

On 4 May 2026, SDERF Madhya Pradesh, in partnership with UN Women, marked the launch of the Gender-Responsive DRR SOP for Rescue and Response under the PRAWAH Initiative.
