So far, eight cases of #hantavirus have been reported, including three deaths. While this is a serious incident, @WHO assesses the public health risk as low. WHO will continue to work with all relevant governments and partners to provide care for those who are affected, protect the safety and dignity of passengers, and prevent onward spread of the virus.

Migration is not the crisis. The crisis is the world’s collective failure to manage migration together. We need cooperation across borders, governments & societies to show how multilateral cooperation delivers in the lives of migrants & the societies they strengthen.

Migration is an inevitable human reality. The question is not whether migration is good or bad. The question is whether we manage it well and manage it together. At the 2nd International Migration Review Forum, Member States reviewed progress in the implementation of the Global Compact. Engagement has deepened and cooperation has expanded. But much more remains to be done in order to make migration a triple win: for migrants, countries of destination and countries of origin.

GDP is the most widely used metric of economic progress & well-being. But it cannot be the only one. GDP is indifferent to whether income goes to billionaires or to the poor – or if that income goes to addressing hunger, health or deprivation. Let’s count what matters: Health. Biodiversity. Job-creation. Human rights. Equality.
