Hal Finney was a pioneering software engineer and cryptographer who was deeply involved in the cypherpunk movement. He contributed to encryption tools like PGP and created a prototype called Reusable Proof of Work, a precursor to digital cash. When Bitcoin launched, Hal was the recipient of the very first bitcoin transaction from Satoshi Nakamoto and continued to code even after being diagnosed with ALS until his passing in 2014. Hal worked towards a world where money was free from control. As we build that future, what role will you play in shaping it?
