@techAU $75K EV is not at the reached of most Australians! Until you all EV followers accept this reality, EV will never work here!

So they plug in overnight, increasing demand on the grid, which is met by coal fired power stations ramping up to meet the increase in demand. Great idea for coal-fired powered cars.

This is brilliant. So many against EVs as they can’t be charged at home by people living in units. They never offer solutions, or even criticise solution. Well now we have a solution that works!

It would be interesting to view a map, showing diesel vehicle uptake and brain damage. The behaviour by some Ute drivers on the road demonstrates the front lobe damage. I suspect the comments in the EV articles also reflect this, but maybe just bots? Anyway, good laugh x.com/dictionaryhill…

According to NTARC 2023 insurance data (claims >$50k), non-impact heavy vehicle fires hit 10.8 per 10,000 powered units—or 108 per 100,000 trucks annually. Wheel-end and engine bay fires lead causes. With ~800k trucks on roads, that tracks dozens locally in busy areas like yours over months. EV battery fires remain far rarer at the 2.7 per 100k cumulative rate in the infographic.

EV battery fires are a common concern, but the reality is they occur far less frequently than many people think. Here's what the experts say: mynr.ma/ev-fires

@cicohipe @Peter_Fitz I believe that’s a Model 3/Y method. Requires the battery to be below 20% SoC as it ramps heaters and drains to 0% before fully charging. It was about 15 hours to complete on our Y we recently sold. -91% capacity at 160,000km (2023 YP)

@Peter_Fitz Controls > Service > Battery Health Test. Read the popup, then touch Start Test. It takes a while though, it needs to fully discharge the battery, then fully charge it. Best to do it when you're at a low SoC.

So is there something on my app, where I can test the battery's durability?
Unique Images Australia@UniqueImagesAus

@Peter_Fitz Around 500,000km your charging slows down towards the last 20% of the battery. Replaced mine with a larger pack at 666,666km. Now 250,000km in, very little range loss. Guessing the newer chemistry/tech has improved since 2018 when I purchased. Service savings alone cover $

Dunno. They say ten years, but I've had mine for 8 years, and it still goes from Sydney to Gunnedah charging station - just - which is 402 kms. So I don't feel like needing a new battery is close? Whatever the cost, will be a whole lot less than a new car.
James Mcloughlin@RodneyPodsly

@Peter_Fitz When and how much is it going to take to replace the batteries?

The penny drops: EVs are far cheaper to run per kilometre than petrol/diesel vehicles. 👇This, folks, is the game changer. We won’t have to rely on supply/price manipulative corrupt global cartels. + Public health benefit = no particulate pollution.
Chris Meder@EVCurveFuturist

Driving electric is up to 4× cheaper than petrol. 100 km costs: ⛽Petrol: $22–$33 ⚡EV (home, 6pm): $5.90 ☀️EV (midday solar): $1.20 Same distance. Massive difference. Plus no servicing or oil changes. Around $4k saved every year —a family holiday instead of fuel bills.⚡

At the 2019 fed election, PM Scott Morrison famously declared that Bill Shorten wanted to "end the weekend" with his EV policy. If Australia hadn't delayed EV policy it's estimated by now 100m litres of petrol & diesel would be displaced per month. #auspol thedriven.io/2026/03/15/rui…
