It's all but confirmed that 2027 will be the year of autonomous vehicles in Australia. An update on the NTC's website states: "On 21 November 2025, Transport Ministers agreed to allow the conditional deployment of automated vehicles from 2027 in selected locations, with full national readiness to follow. This timeline will depend on each state and territory updating its legislation and building the necessary capabilities to support safe and lawful operation." While no specifics are given, they seem to be leaving it up to individual states to be ready. While AV trials are welcomed at any time by the Australian Government, this gives the likes of Waymo and Tesla Robotaxi the official green light, at least in some jurisdictions in Australia from 2027. Exciting!

Yeesh. Looks stressful. Like trying to use Tesla's basic autopilot on city streets. I am looking forward to seeing the improvements with point-to-point in the future, but this is pretty rough youtu.be/iEWRS6bsHOk?si…

Out of 473,000 EVs in Australia, 13 have caught fire. Of those 13, 3 were caused by separate house fires, 2 because someone set them on fire, and 5 from high-speed collisions. That leaves just 3 out of 473,000 EVs for which no cause has been identified. 3.

EV battery fires are a common concern, but the reality is they occur far less frequently than many people think. Here's what the experts say: mynr.ma/ev-fires

This will be VERY unpopular. This never gets a mentioned about becoming an EV driver. You don’t realise how bad exhaust fumes are. How bad they smell. How hard it is to breathe. Until you stop being around them. When you switch to an EV, something weird happens. At first, nothing. It just feels normal. Then one day you’re walking through a car park… Or sat behind an older diesel at the lights… Or someone starts their engine right next to you… Or simply drives past. And it hits you. That smell. That thick, dirty, oily exhaust smell. And you suddenly realise… This used to be constant. It was normal. And now it stinks. You can’t breathe. Every school run. Every traffic jam. Every petrol station. Every drive-through queue. We’ve just been conditioned to accept it. Once you’ve had even a short break from it, your tolerance drops massively. It’s like going from a smoky room into fresh air, and then being forced back inside. You notice it instantly. And it feels worse than you remember. That’s what people underestimate. Cleaner air isn’t just some invisible benefit. And once that happens, once you properly notice the difference, there’s no going back, and it will drive you mad.

Thanks for posting, nicely written article, however I disagree with your take. I like human-made art which includes music, paintings, movies, games, whatever BECAUSE it's hard and that not everyone can do it. In the DLSS5 example... I appreciate the imperfections, because it was a design choice based on constraints. They COULD have made the character look more beautiful but it would have come at the expense of performance. I respect that decision, and that's part of the beauty of the end product. I can see the thought, and the work that went into it in the end product. That's what makes it beatiful. I don't just hate AI slop because I think it looks bad (though a lot of the time it does). I hate it because its soulless.

All we asked for was more VRAM. So Nvidia delivered AI slop which which breaks the artistic intent of the game and everyone hates. Good job 👍

@jaycee0202 Thing is though oil prices make everything go up. So how can they measure what's going up because of oil prices and what's not?

The RBA raising rates due to oil prices is the dumbest thing I've heard all year. When Oil goes up, everything goes up, inflation goes up, yes. How the hell is making home loans more expensive going to fix an oil crisis??! Typically when inflation is high, reducing spendable incomes reduces people's ability to pay for things putting downward pressure on prices. However everyone can't just choose to stop paying for fuel...

Austin, TX (MAR.15.2026)- Been investigating this story all day of multiple Waymos frozen and blocking traffic with APD attempting to get the lead vehicle moving while other vehicles and other Waymo’s are trapped behind it. Anyone aware of this catastrophe from last night? Story will be updated in the comment #NeedIntelligence #SunsetProject #ManilaWeHaveAProblem #ReadyToScale

In Australia, this guy stops at a roadside banana stand with no staff. You weigh the bananas, the scale tells you the price, and you pay with a card. Honor system.

@colster6000 I'm also wondering about the fuel and maintenance. Can you choose to opt out of those to lower the lease cost or is it mandatory? Also, did you just order through the website under the NL option, then give the leasing company the details from there?

@RobGrieves Be very wary of insurance you don’t need or can get cheaper elsewhere. Bundling is how NL companies make their $. Don’t worry too much about setting deductions as these can be adjusted up and down during a lease. The finance payment is the key thing to compare as can’t change it
