The day they announced promotions at work, the whole office was buzzing. People were smiling, whispering, refreshing their emails. Somehow, my name was already in people’s mouths before the list even came out. “Congratulations in advance!”
“Guy, you deserve it!”
“Na your turn be this!” I was smiling too… because honestly, I believed it. I had worked hard. Stayed late. Showed up on days I didn’t feel like it. In my mind, it made sense. Then the email dropped. My heart started beating fast. I opened it quickly, eyes scanning line by line… once… twice… three times. My name wasn’t there. At first, I thought it was a mistake. Maybe I missed it. Maybe there was another list. I checked again. Nothing. That moment felt heavy. Like something just dropped inside my chest. But I still had to stand up and act normal. Then people started coming. “Congrats! You don see am?”
“So how far, boss?”
“Promotion don land!” I forced a smile. A very painful one. “My name… it’s not there.” The way their faces changed… that one hurt the most.
Shock. Confusion. Pity. “Ahh… are you serious?”
“How come?”
“But we thought—” I didn’t even have answers. Just small nods and awkward smiles, trying to act like it didn’t get to me. But it did. That day felt longer than usual. I did my work, but my mind wasn’t there. I kept asking myself questions I couldn’t answer. Maybe I wasn’t as good as I thought.
Maybe I wasn’t seen.
Maybe I just wasn’t enough. But life has a way of surprising you. A few weeks later, out of nowhere, an opportunity came. Another job. Better pay. Better environment. Less stress. It didn’t even make sense at first. That was when I understood… Sometimes, the door you’re praying for will close in your face… because a better one is waiting for you to walk into it. God came through for me. And looking back now, I’m grateful my name was not on that list.

my best friend lost her unborn daughter in a car crash when she was 8 months pregnant. after that, she felt cold for weeks. nothing could help her feel warm. a few weeks after that she went to her mother for breakfast, and her mother said that she had a dream about my best friend's grandpa with a baby in his arms. he said "i found Julia's baby girl, i’m going to keep her safe and warm." my best friend told her mother she suddenly felt warm again. a few hours later the phone rang, they were told that grandpa died last night.

My cousin sent his wife to her parents’ house and asked her not to come back. He opened a shop for her and still sends money for food, but he noticed that even when things finish in the house, she’ll still wait for him to provide or even collect the money back. Recently, their gas finished, and she asked him for money. He told her, “you’re also working.” She replied that she would borrow him instead. He told her to use her own money or leave it. Guess what? She left it and bought takeaway for both of them. That was when he told her to go and reset in her father’s house. When she got there, he later told her to remain there unless she changed her mindset. She’s still there sha, now her parents have called him saying they’ve talked to her but she’s still being stubborn. Omo, this is how another marriage will end 😭

My neighbor asked me to borrow her my industrial gas to cook for her son’s birthday(she got my number from the compound WhatsApp group) we just say hello and that is it. I told her no problem, she could borrow it. I went out the next morning when I was hearing noise from the backyard to find out they were using my big pots, sieve and turning stick(she didn’t tell me they would use that too) Tell me why they finished cooking, instead of soaking the pot, they immediately used spoon to keep scraping out the burnt part. The pot has a leaking hole, they didn’t tell me and returned it like that. I made a video and sent it to her, she apologized on behalf of whoever did it but I told her she has to pay. She did, matter resolved.

A coworker died yesterday morning😭. HR knew by 9 :00 AM, but they kept us working all day. They finally told us around 4 :30 PM, then had the nerve to say, "You can head home early if you need to"—knowing we all finish at 5: 00 PM anyway. This morning, it’s back to "business as usual." Some of my friends are literally sobbing at their desks, but they’re expected to work and be productive. No time to grieve. It’s a cold reality. Within a week, the company will have his job posted online. Within a month, someone else will be sitting in his chair. But his family ,his children will still talk about him every day, they will ask where is daddy , His wife will mourn him for ages ,he was the love of her life . At work, we are just a "resource" that can be replaced in a week. At home, we are the world. Stop giving your best energy to a desk that will forget you, and giving the "leftovers" to the people who never will.

I heard my neighbour’s husband shouting at his wife this morning. “I’m late for work, won’t you cook for me?” The wife replied calmly: “With what strength? You were on me from 3am to 5am. Please fix yourself something, you’re not a baby.” The man got angry; “Isn’t it your duty to satisfy me? Now you’re complaining? I’ll text my colleague to bring food for me at the office.” The wife shouted back; Tell her to pack for two… I’ll come and collect my own.”

This girl inside the bus wore a corset which was truly revealing. She was the first person to join the bus, so the driver had tried his shot earlier but failed. As soon as she alighted, one oversabi woman was the first to say “see all her breast outside”. No sooner had she said that, the driver picked it from there. He started saying all sort about ladies these days and how they are spoiling their future. Saying it’s due to bad parenting. At first. everyone was having it and they started dropping their own opinion. Baba continued even after everyone was quiet o. Apparently, it was personal to him😂 The driver stopped to pick a passenger to fill up. He accelerated and continued with the trash talking. From nowhere, we just heard “no be so your pikin, Chinaza no finish secondary school because say she carry belle?”. Obviously, the new passenger that he picked knew him well Everybody shouted “aaaah”. Till we got to the last bus stop, the bus became silent and very awkward😂

This colleague of mine has always sworn to never have children. She hates the idea of children. The moment we start talking about how cute they are and their little dramas, her face changes completely. We’ve all learned to avoid that topic around her. I later found out why. Her parents, especially her dad, hated her. He blamed her birth for everything that went wrong in his life. Her mum, trying to keep her marriage and get love from her husband, slowly distanced herself from her own child. So she grew up without real love from either parent. Eventually, she was sent away to live with her grandmother. No explanation, no fight for her to stay. Just sent off quietly. Her parents were financially okay, but she grew up in poverty. Struggling for basic things while knowing her own parents could have done better. Her dad never let go of his anger. Losing that promotion, the stress, everything… in his mind, it all started when she was born. Hearing her cry only made it worse. He came home angry almost every day, and she became the easiest person to blame. Her mum stayed, but not really for her. She chose peace with her husband over protecting her child. So the little girl learned to stay quiet. To not ask for too much. To not be seen. But it didn’t change anything. She grew up feeling unwanted. Like her life was a mistake she had to apologise for. As she grew older. She sees how they react with other people's children, all that smile around other children but never her When people talk about children being cute, she can’t connect. All she remembers is what it felt like to be one; unwanted, blamed, and pushed aside. So she avoids the conversation. She shuts down. Not because she hates children for no reason… But because being a child, for her, was never something beautiful, and you can’t give what you never received. I really feel for her. That kind of pain doesn’t just go away. I hope she heals.

The first time the doctor told you, “Your baby is not properly positioned,” you laughed, he told you, adjusting his glasses as he studied the scan again. “And your blood pressure is 180 over 100. That is dangerously high. You’re 31 weeks pregnant. We need to plan for a Caesarean section.” You shifted on the hospital bed, hand resting on your belly. The baby kicked strong, alive. You smiled. “Doctor, God forbid. Nothing will happen to me or my baby,” you replied confidently. He didn’t smile back. “This isn’t about fear,” he said calmly. “This is about risk. Your condition can lead to seizures, stroke, or even death. And your baby” “My God is in control,” you cut in, already reaching for your bag. “I will go to church. I will pray. I don’t accept this report.” The nurse looked at you, then at the doctor, unsure whether to speak. “Madam,” the doctor tried one last time, “faith is not the opposite of wisdom. Please” But you were already gone. At church, they surrounded you. Hands on your head. Oil on your forehead. Loud prayers shaking the walls. “No weapon formed against you shall prosper!” “Every spirit of complication, we cast you out!” You cried. You shouted “Amen!” You believed. And for a moment, you felt peace. The first sign came quietly. A headache. Then blurred vision. Then swelling. “Na normal pregnancy symptoms,” someone told you. You believed them. Less than two weeks later, everything changed. You woke up in the middle of the night, heart pounding. Your head felt like it would split open. Your body was heavy. Something was wrong. Then the pain started. Sharp. Deep. Unrelenting. Your husband rushed you to the hospital, the same one you had walked out of. This time, there was no confidence. No arguments. No “God forbid.” Only fear. “BP is 200 over 120!” “Prepare theatre now!” “Fetal distress!” Voices flew over your head as they wheeled you in. You could barely see. Barely breathe. Your body trembled. “Doctor… my baby…” you whispered weakly. The same doctor stood over you. His face was serious, but not angry. “We will do everything we can,” he said. Everything went black. Hours later, you woke up. The room was quiet. Too quiet. Your throat was dry. Your body weak. Your husband sat beside you, eyes red, holding your hand tightly. “The baby…” you struggled to say. He swallowed hard. “The baby is alive,” he said softly. “But… in the ICU.” Tears slipped down your face. “And you…” he continued, voice breaking, “you almost didn’t make it.” The doctor came in later. “You had severe preeclampsia,” he explained. “Your blood pressure caused complications. The baby was in distress because of the position and reduced oxygen. We had to act fast.” You couldn’t speak. “You were lucky,” he added quietly. “Very lucky.” Lucky. The word echoed in your mind. This is not just a story. This is a warning. Pregnancy is not a place for pride, ignorance, or blind belief. God does not ask you to reject knowledge. He does not reward carelessness. He does not replace doctors, he works through them. When a trained medical professional tells you there is danger, listen. Prayers are powerful, but so is wisdom. That “small” decision to ignore medical advice can become the line between life and death… for you and your child. Don’t let stubbornness, fear, or misplaced faith cost you everything. Because not everyone gets to come back and tell the story.

My landlord just made a new rule: you must buy all your food and provisions from his wife. Meanwhile, her prices are higher than outside. Sachet water is ₦600 elsewhere, she’s selling it for ₦700. If you come home with groceries, they’ll even check your bag like you’re smuggling contraband. Worst part? I just renewed my rent on December 1, 2025. 💔 This country will test you😭

When I closed down my thrift store, I brought all my mannequins and equipment home I’m not the type to sell things I might still need later. A senior friend asked for some mannequins. I told her I wasn’t selling, but she kept insisting, so I agreed to lend them with clear instructions: no direct sunlight, because they can get weak and break easily. Fast forward my kid sister needed them for her clothing line. I informed my friend two weeks ahead, went to her shop, and picked up my mannequins. Now suddenly, I’m the bad person for taking back what belongs to me? Honestly, people are never satisfied.

My siblings called a family meeting after our mom passed. The lawyer went through the will and everything including the house in the capital, the savings, even her expensive jewellery went to me because I was the one who took care of her during her illness. My brother lost it: "You forged this! She promised us equal shares!" My sister started screaming that I poisoned her mind. They took me to court claiming undue influence. Two years later, legal fees drained half of the inheritance anyway. Blood turns cold when money is on the table. Family inheritance fights destroy more homes than anything else at this point we are only left with the house only not even a single car

A woman is cooking eggs in the kitchen when her husband comes running in. Immediately, he sees the eggs and gasps in horror. “Be careful! CAREFUL! Put in some more butter! Oh, my GOSH!” The wife, startled at her husband’s violent reaction, dashes to the fridge to get some butter. “You’re cooking too many at once. TOO MANY! Turn them! TURN THEM NOW!” The wife, concerned by her husband’s mental state, forgets about the butter and runs to the eggs. “WE NEED BUTTER! Are you CRAZY??? Where are we going to get the butter? They’re going to stick! HURRY!” The wife runs to the fridge—“CAREFUL about the eggs! CAREFUL. You NEVER listen to me when you’re cooking! Never! Turn them quickly! Oh, not that quickly. Don’t you know how to cook? Are you insane? Turn the DAMN EGGS!” At this point, the wife starts crying, since she has no idea what to do. She gasps, “What is WRONG with you? I know how to cook eggs.” The husband simply smiles, remarks, “I just wanted to show you what it feels like while I’m driving with you in the car,” and leaves.

SAD 💔😭Divine’s mother sheds tears inconsolably as she speaks out about her daughter’s d€•ath "We were at home, having first reported the child’s disappearance to the school. We searched everywhere on Wednesday night, without even stopping to sleep. I contacted the counselor, Mr. Koué, as well as her doctor around 7:00 AM, to explain to them that the child had run away and that it was absolutely critical for her to receive her injection before eating. Without it, her bl00d sugar levels could rise gradually, putting her at risk of falling into a c0ma. (Divine was dia•betic) During the search, her classmate the very boy near whom her body was later found, was present. We begged the children to tell us the truth, reminding them that everyone was aware of her medical condition. But they claimed to know nothing, saying she had supposedly gone to visit an aunt near the school which was a lie, as we have no relatives in that area. The search continued without success until mid-afternoon. Around 3:15 PM, some children came to tell my younger brother that someone had been found at a construction site. We rushed there immediately. Upon arriving at the scene, I initially thought she was still alive. I had brought her in-sulin and gluc0se with me to stabilize her condition But when I saw her, I realized she was in criti•cal condition... or perhaps had just breathed her last. Her body was still warm, and there were still tears in her eyes, but I could no longer detect a pulse. Witnesses have stated that they heard her screaming for hours during the night, crying out for help and begging someone to contact her mother. In our view, even given the circumstances an attempt should have been made to save her. Instead, she was abandoned. Preliminary findings indicate that she was raped. Subsequently, we were given the runaround, being shuffled back and forth between the police and various agencies." ...competent authorities, yet without any clear information. It was only under pressure from social media and public opinion that the investigation truly began to move forward. Today, the case is in the hands of the Gendarmerie. My daughter was special. She was responsible; she already helped out around the house like an adult. She was a chorister and a dancer, and she always made her school shine during competitions. She was in the 6th grade, and she wanted to become a doctor. She would always tell me, "I want to become a doctor; I’m going to take care of you." They killed my child 😭💔

Just because I didn’t allow the SS2 Science students to cheat during their exam on Thursday, they went to report me to their class teacher. The class teacher then went to the principal’s office and falsely accused me of collecting money from the students for the exam. Honestly, it’s the audacity of the class teacher that surprises me. Because I refused to let the students cheat in the exam hall, you still went ahead to lie against me. Now, you’ve put the students in trouble. I explained everything to the principal. I told him that when I entered the classroom to supervise, the class captain brought me Fanta and Gala. I asked what it was for, and he said the students had contributed money to buy it for me. I thanked them. When the exam started, I instructed them that if I caught anyone cheating, I would send them out. Then, out of nowhere, a student said, “After you collected our Fanta and Gala.” I immediately replied that the items were still on the table and they could take them back after the exam. The principal then asked if that was all, and I said yes. Thankfully, I had witnesses, who testified to it. The principal then instructed the class teacher to submit their scripts to his office, and that the class must present the student who made that statement, along with the six students I sent out for cheating.

So he kept the key in the door handle and he slept off.. some one took the key from the window opened the door and entered his shop as he was sleeping.. The person took one of his butterfly 🦋 machine.. The person carried is two phones with the chargers and also his laptop... That same person also locked him inside... As he was narrating the story. My former colleague used to monitor everyone’s resumption time. Clock in at 8:01 instead of 8:00 and she was already writing your name down, even tho there’s a clocking in machine…She had a whole book. Physical book. With dates and times and her own little notes. When tardiness report comes out,She reported people who the machine might have miss to HR for being two minutes late while she spent half her working day managing that book instead of doing her actual job. Nobody liked her. Everyone feared her. She knew both and preferred it that way. Then the company did a performance review. First real one in years. They looked at output. Not resumption time. Actual output. She had the least to show of anyone in that office. They let her go on a Friday. She had been two minutes early every single day for four years.
