Post-Lecture Student Town Hall This platform will create space for structured reflection on the arguments raised during the week, with particular attention to student voices, civic responsibility, and the role of institutions in carrying Pan-African commitments into practical life. It is worth noting that the Town Hall will take place in the 50th anniversary year of the 16 June uprisings, a moment in which the fears, hopes, and aspirations of South Africa’s young people for a better future were sharpened into action. Rather than treating students as a closing audience, the Foundation and UNISA want this final engagement to operate as a site of response. It should ask what was heard during the week, what remains contested, and what obligations now fall on universities, students, the youth, women, public leaders, and citizens in renewing South Africa and reaching for the South African promise. On 14 May 2026, Dr Thebe Ikalafeng donated the landmark painting African Re-Union (2025) to the #UnisaArtGallery, further enriching its distinguished collection. Conceptualised by Dr Ikalafeng and executed by Mr Mark Modimola, the artwork symbolises Pan-African unity through its depiction of historic African icons alongside contemporary African leaders. The painting was officially donated during the African Reunion! A Celebration of Pan-African Imagination and Unity exhibition held at the Unisa Art Gallery, which reflected on African identity, collective memory, and continental unity through artistic expression. #Unisa150andBeyond

South Africa is plagued by the scourge of gender-based violence, which has been classified as a national disaster by the government. For years, Prof Jolandi le Roux-Bouwer's research has focused on intimate violence and the criminal laws that respond to it. ow.ly/QkLr50YYaw9 #Unisa150andBeyond #UnisaCLAW #UnisaResearch
