For 15 years, local councils have been pushed to breaking point by brutal austerity cuts. Frontline workers and vital services have paid the price and our communities are feeling it every day. Streets are left uncleaned, roads not gritted, streetlights dimmed, libraries and youth centres closed, housing repairs delayed. All while council workers have faced real-terms pay cuts, worse conditions, shrinking resources, and job losses. This isn’t inevitable. Austerity is a political choice and it’s failed.
