@PokerPolitics He is aware that the USA leaving would not dismantle NATO right given that well you know it’s not the only country in the alliance right? Also NATO’s had borders with Russia for the entirety of its existence

Jacob spent years talking about how the Ukrainian military was in the brink of collapse and Russia didn’t need to cut a deal cause victory was near. Now he is constantly making up delusional hypotheticals about how we can end the war diplomatically.

Poverty is a primary driver of prostitution, acting as a survival strategy for individuals—disproportionately women, ethnic minorities, and youth—facing extreme economic hardship, lack of opportunities, and marginalization. It is often described as "survival sex" where income needs take precedence, rather than a free choice, making it a consequence of structural inequalities.
The Economist@TheEconomist

Sex work is hard for economists to study. It covers all manner of X-rated activities and facts and figures can be scarce. But the internet is making the job easier economist.com/finance-and-ec…

@boudicasarmy @niktwaznybap All this does is serve to downplay the true horrors by treating them as jokes That was always my biggest fear regarding Epstein and the like . That it becomes a joke and no justice is done

@MariaFoxlove I do not mind taking blame for slavery . It took too long for us to end it I do mind though when I am solely blamed for it as if we were the only ones to participate in it when in fact we were the only ones to feel repentant about it

@MariaFoxlove The Manikongos and Malians were among the most brutal for this . Nearly half of all slaves came from the Manikongos . They were a brutal cutthroat people Same goes for the Malians which ended up being what led to their downfall

@MariaFoxlove Yep a lot of coastal African countries today almost entirely descend from groups doing the enslaving . It was a way to make sure the other tribes knew their place . They were doing it long before the first Portuguese ever bought slaves

@MariaFoxlove He did often go off on one about “colonisers” but you could tell it was actually out of love for his people . Yes he did want to price gouge us for resources but that was about the extent of his “revenge” so fair enough . Again it was just about his people doing well

@MariaFoxlove Reminds me of a guy I knew from Burkina Faso . Was a pretty nice dude but when he talked about home you could see the sadness there with what he was dealing with . Was quite mentally taxing for him as you can imagine

@MariaFoxlove Yep they were already incredibly close . For the Jutes to be hired in the first place implies a lot of prior contact and as I covered in one of our earlier exchanges Britain had been an exporter of goods since well before the Romans came . They weren’t aliens to each other

@MariaFoxlove Yep the Brythonics were pretty much assimilated into the wider group . When we came to “liberate them” many took up arms against us . They considered themselves clearly as one with the English The Welsh are a complicated topic that is too often simplified
