Terrible to demolish a usable home. Owners accept their planning breach, yet €130k+ will be spent knocking it while families struggle to find housing. Hard to justify. A rigid system choosing enforcement over common sense.

@White_Chapel0 They do. They have said it publicly many times. I do not condone any breaches of planning. They have lost their home & that is their punishment. Demolishing a fine property that could serve the community or a charity is futile

@UnityakaAontu The owners absolutely do not "accept their planning breach", and they have been contesting the case for the last 20 years with Meath Co. Council. It's embarrassing that a so-called public representative would condone such deliberate and flagrant breaches of planning laws.

@UnityakaAontu Look, it’s simple. You have to apply for planning permission to build a house. I did it, all my friends and family did it. It’s tedious but it’s the law. I don’t understand the problem. The alternative is a free for all.
