I asked @Grok Imagine to make a trailer for the most insane, pulpy, incredible 1980s sword-and-sorcery movie that should’ve existed but never did. Grok did not disappoint. Here is SWORDBOW.

Finally caught up on the talk that @StirringDragon and @IndieLauraSDG, husband and wife indie dev team, gave at PRGE. Big recommend for anyone who loves retro RPGs. Some thoughts: Loved the breakdown of the 4 forefathers! I'm a huge Tolkienist so that was gratifying. "Abstractions of reality" rather than direct simulations of reality is a great observation about changes in game design over time. Turn based IS more relaxing for a lot of us, thank you. Play-testing across multiple generations was personally inspiring. I know many of us have aged out of the target demographics, but we get to share games with the next generation and that's priceless. We need games made for us and them, not just the 20 somethings.

.@StirringDragon just did a rough count of our #pixelart tiles for #UnknownRealm... we’re approaching 2000 tiles. With revisions, we’ve probably spent almost a year of our life just on pixel tiles for this game. 🤯 #gamedev #indiegame #handcrafted #8bit #pc #c64 #rpg

I'm glad people enjoyed our talk, which included a brief history lesson on "The Four Fathers of RPGs", how they each built on the previous, and how all RPGs are inspired by their work to varying degrees. J.R.R. Tolkien - The Father of Worldbuilding Gary Gygax - The Father of Role-Playing mechanics Richard Garriott - The Father of the CRPG Yuji Horii - The Father of the JRPG

Flashback to that time we used our baby for game marketing and no one understood the reference. Do you get it?
