This is about Ty Dane Gonzalez of Locked On Mariners, who recently attempted to get media credentials for the Mariners' 50th anniversary weekend in August. After being denied, he went on a rant about the decision. While many of his fans are offering him sympathy, I simply can't. Not only did he block me over a simple disagreement, but he regularly blocks anyone else who dares to disagree with him about the Mariners. You don't get to create a toxic "blocking culture" that suppresses opposing viewpoints and then turn around to play the victim. To be clear, I don't care what kind of content he puts out—everyone is entitled to make the content they want, even if others disagree with it. The actual issue I have with him and the Locked On Mariners podcast is that they refuse to allow conversations featuring differing opinions. Sports analysis relies on debate; if everyone agreed on everything, the sports world would be incredibly boring. I hope he humbly takes this as a lesson to treat his listeners, his fans, and people in general much better going forward. Do better.
