We tend to look weary and depressed when celebrating. 3. Albanian money is called Lek (same as the King), so they may have just been looking for the King.

@murielzagha @holysmoke @WTMAtkinson @UranFerizi I think Damian's story may be the only one in which Leka is cheerful! When I rode round Albania with him - in Enver Hoxha's limo - he was weary and depressed. Tho people did keep firing their guns and shouting "where's our money" at him.

Sir Noel Malcolm was at Harvard University when he was receiving constant calls from international media. At the outset of the war in Kosova in 1998, he published the most important international historical account of the country. By the time he was receiving those calls, the war was already well underway, ending in June of 1999 following the NATO intervention. His work was timely, as propaganda was being used to justify genocide, and it documented the systemic discrimination of Albanians. He set the record straight at a moment when distorted history was being weaponized, so that the truth of the past could shape a more just future. I had the honor of having a number of discussions with Sir Malcolm last night in London, who is currently at Oxford University, and of expressing my gratitude for what remains the most definitive English-language scholarly account on Kosova.

It was a true honour to receive the Presidential Medal of Merit for my support for Kosovo's peace and sovereignty. My support for Kosovo has always been guided by the belief that its people have the right to live in peace, security and dignity, and that we have a duty to stand firm with our allies who face irredentism and imperialist ambitions. So many veterans locally served in Kosovo, and my resolve is strengthened by a determination not to allow their service to be in vain.

In commemoration of this year's Holocaust Memorial Day, the @AlEmbassyUK and @KosovoinUK will be co-hosting the exhibition 'BESA - A Code of Honour' – the story of ordinary Albanians who rescued Jews from Nazi persecution during the Holocaust. The event is open-door!
