On Sunday, DSA's National Political Committee voted down an all-member poll on presidential endorsement, routing the decision through chapter deliberation and potentially delaying it until the August 2027 convention, all while AOC is expected to declare in early 2027. @UlyanovRahim People should learn from that. You have to defend people in struggle even if you think it's hopeless because you have to show solidarity with your own side. Otherwise nobody will be interested in whatever criticisms you have

I also like the claim that “NYCDSA’s democracy is being trampled over by national!” — As if their access to power in national is fundamentally disadvantaged and not proportional. The only lack of democracy is within the NYCDSA chapter itself thanks to Gustavo and friends!

DSA’s national leadership (the NPC) just voted to overturn our convention & took away rank and file members’ right to vote in an all-member poll on presidential endorsement. The NPC taking away our members’ right to vote while NYC-DSA members send them ~ $2M per year in dues.

Crazy that this was sent from NYCDSA’s treasurer to all NPC members after the vote yesterday. Openly threatening a split with a detailed breakdown of how it would go, a breakdown that I have to assume wasn’t made immediately after the vote. Seems like this is their actual plan.

For those that don't know: Ann Widdecombe was a staunch defender of the policy of handcuffing pregnant women in prison to their beds as they went through labour.
She also refused access to prisoners who required midwives and antenatal care.

@IGGYDSA NYC-DSA members have a voice in DSA: they elect delegates to convention (which elects the NPC) and, on 2028, they can hold a chapter poll like everyone else. They're not disenfranchised, the Right just sometimes loses votes. Talking about NYC-DSA members 'sending' money

NYC-DSA members do not 'send' money to the NPC any more than they send money to you. They are members of a national organization w/ democratically-elected leadership
DSA Right is talking more & more in terms of a split. The Left has to be prepared for such an unfortunate outcome
