@BarbaraBleiman In an ideal world, yes, but inconsistency in curriculum and delivery lead to some students being disadvantaged. Teacher shortages and budget constraints mean that non specialists are often delivering said curriculum and lack the expertise to deliver in this way.

The wave of agreement for this set of tweets is very encouraging to me. It confirms my view that English teachers are striving for something richer, more ambitious, creative, flexible, responsive & authentically 'English' than inflexible booklets that every teacher 'delivers'.

@tes @Tom_Middlehurst @ASCL_UK I've always said this to students. I think it's come from the need for a 4 for maths and English for sixth form/college etc but it's so wrong to say 1-3 are a fail

@bookofmmcgivern @JamieJo86909968 @MrBoothY6 The problem is that the people who do write for the government website do lie. Gillian Keenan’s letter to teachers stated that she believes we have a surplus lying around to pay for it - we don’t. Most schools are running on a deficit.

6.5% is a good offer. Better than I was expecting for us to have on the table. But if it isn’t funded it’s game over for so much of education. You can expect gargantuan class sizes, four day weeks, no extra curricular provision, no teaching assistants and decimated SEN provision.

@hartmaths Find equivalent ratios where the part that remains the same is equal. In this case the purple sweets. For questions where one person gives sweets to the other you make the totals equal.

@ocrexams I am trying to find a large print formula book for Further Maths H235. Enlarging the booklet to A3 is not adequate as it does not make the formulae and tables large enough. I called yesterday and was told someone would get back to me but I haven't heard anything yet.
