🧵👇Let's talk about blockchain security, what happened with the 1 billion+ ByBit hack, and our OS choice for security to build DeEEP. So what happened? TLDR: The hackers replaced a binary used by the UI to change transactions, that binary was stored in unsecured infrastructure, allowing someone to change it. What we're using to avoid vulnerabilities on our network: We're using Kairos OS, it provides a read-only filesystem, ephemeral /etc, and atomic upgrades. This ensures each DeEEP Device can’t be tampered with or drift from a known-good state—an essential defense against infiltration and code injection attacks. We combine that immutability with Intel’s hardware-based security features, including Secure Boot, Measured Boot, and TPM-bound full disk encryption. Only verified code is allowed to run, so malicious actors can’t slip in compromised binaries. As @RenuNavale (VP & GM of Edge Platforms at Intel) says: “Edge applications require an ‘edge-native’ architecture… Security at the edge is especially challenging.” Kairos OS and DeEEP Devices address this challenge head-on with a Secure-Edge Native Architecture. On the DeEEP Network, each workload is isolated in its own VM with encrypted memory and storage. No side-channel memory leaks, no lateral movement.
