@dublinpeople Another example of ridiculous planning where the planning authorities reduce the number of parking spaces instead of facing the reality of how many cars an average family have and plan accordingly. Unfortunately people need cars, everything doesn’t fit to public transport

@davidmcw This is a horrific solution to a housing crisis, condemning future generations to live in glorified sheds. Bedsits were outlawed and planning changed but now all going backwards. We need to make apartments liveable size units as built elsewhere, not just a stop gap home

This is an obvious move, get on with it. Back gardens mean density, means cheaper public infrastructure, transport, utilities etc and these areas are already plumbed & on the electricity/gas grind etc. Sensible. Defangs NIMBYS too!! rte.ie/news/politics/…

Will be chatting to @cooper_m after 6 about the impact of the Dublin Traffic Plan on commute times! 🚗🚴‍♂️ Has it made your life better or worse, especially if you're travelling in from commuter counties like Kildare, Meath, or Wicklow? Let me know!

@MaiaDunphy I’ve noticed the same thing with my son who is 8 and started watching YouTube clips. Like you I’ve parental controls and restricted content etc but the videos out there instil a sense of women being lesser in to young children, no matter the role models they have to the contrary

“Watch how this pilot deals with a Karen on board his plane” and cue a really poorly acted piece where a women has to be put in her place by some “brave military men”. I sat and watched the next clips that linked on. A silly “how bad women drive” then…

The brutal murder of Carol Hunt and her beautiful daughters Louise and Hannah is just harrowing. Can’t imagine what John Hunt is going through. Of course it’s not all men, but there are too many entitled little shits like that coward who killed them. We need to stop this.

@SeanDublin38027 @NewstalkFM So you make someone drive a much longer route to get to the same place. Less say James hospital to Dublin port as an example. I just feel that the consultation and thought in to it is poor and doesn’t make sense to me

@VATalbot @NewstalkFM And if someone needs to cross the city within the limits of the M50 they can they just cannot use the quays to do so

🚗The Dublin transport plan is "not a car ban" according to Michael Pidgeon, Leader of the Green Party group on Dublin City Council. Louis Copeland, owner of Louis Copeland & Sons and Green Party's Michael Pidgeon answer your questions on the transport plan.

@SeanDublin38027 @NewstalkFM According to DCC. The public consultation for this equates to 0.9% of the population of Dublin (ex Prime Time). It might make sense for a wider public consultation process

@VATalbot @NewstalkFM Two out of every three cars currently using the city streets do not have the centre as their destination according to Dublin City Council. That's from an Irish times article. So it's higher than 60% but the stat comes from Dublin City Council

@SeanDublin38027 @NewstalkFM Nothing against something new. I feel that its cart before the horse. The public transport improvements are years away and don’t account for people from outside of Dublin that have to commute and don’t have a public transport option

@VATalbot @NewstalkFM Of course people are allowed to cross over the city. The idea of this plan is improving the city for everyone. Currently have you ever tried to drive through the city it's a shambles. The levels of traffic are to high for the roads to handle. It's time to try something new

@neil061099 @NewstalkFM No I’m not thick, thanks. Having a dissenting opinion doesn’t make me stupid. Last time I checked there are already bus lanes in place. This plan puts additional bus gates and seeks to prevent crossing from one side of the city to the other which I don’t agree with

@cianginty @eoincasey86 @NewstalkFM When though? Eamon Ryan said on Prime Time that they expect to go to tender on the metro next year. Tender still means it’s years away from being built. What are the public transport plans for people from outside of Dublin? You have to give some carrot before the stick

@SeanDublin38027 @NewstalkFM Where did the stat of 60% come from? Are people not allowed to cross from one side of the city to the other? The M50 brings you far out beyond the city centre. It’s not unreasonable to think that someone from the Northside needs to go to the south side all within the M50 limit

@VATalbot @NewstalkFM 60% of cars in the City Centre are not travelling to the City Centre they are travelling through. That's what the M50 is for

@eoincasey86 @NewstalkFM Huge amounts of people have to commute to Dublin for work but don’t have public transport options. Once there are better public transport options then implement it. Many people don’t have a public transport option so this will just make an already difficult commute unbearable

@gavreilly @VirginMediaNews Oh Christ this man is delusional. They deserve to lose every seat on every council. They are overly idealistic and their policies don’t mix with the real world and the real issues people have to deal with every day

Parents having to send their kids to before-school club, school and after-school club to facilitate work+commute. By the time everyone is showered/fed in the evening - what time is it? 7pm? Can't be long until kids bedtimes at that stage. Are parents basically not getting any leisure time with their children 5 days a week?

@alanfair12 @RTE_PrimeTime @ConorWilson And a great many people are in cars because they can’t afford to live in Dublin and have to commute and there isn’t a public transport alternative that works. Put the transport option in first. Crime in the city also needs to be tackled so people can feel safe too
