"That my kids would be placed in state custody by 3:00pm." 9 and 11 year old siblings were detained along with their step mom while waiting at the bus stop—in front of all the other students. The Uzategui-Labrador family first sought asylum in 2021—and had valid work permits through 2030, no criminal record, and an upcoming hearing already scheduled for May. Fifth-grade student Victor and his younger sister, Victoria, who is in second grade, go to school at Cambridge Elementary in San Antonio, Texas. They are now locked up at the Dilley ICE Processing Center.
