Goals included: ● Describe different national models or health systems for the provision of health care. ● Develop a basic understanding of a local prehospital care system. ● Articulate barriers to health and health care in low-resource settings locally and globally.

Today @VCUEMS Physician, Stephanie Louka, MD moderated a Zoom with @VCUSOM First year medical students discussing her experiencing teaching EMS programs in Rwanda.

The ACCESS Program (Acute Care System Strengthening in Low Resources Settings) is a SOM 4-year elective, and its curriculum was developed based on the CUGH framework Global Health Competencies for 21st Century Health Professionals.

Today’s EMS Fellow conference turned into a spontaneous EMS Grand Rounds with the @HenricoFire #Paramedic Academy led by Dr. Joe Ornato.

Our EMS fellows are both teachers and learners during the year. Simulated burn management with @HenricoFire on Monday, airway lecture and SALAD airway practice today.
