We don’t need to hear from lawyers explaining how insane this is. We know. We do need to hear from the administration what they are doing to prevent the election from being stolen & from devolving into mass violence—not to mention preventing the Fourth Reich from reaching a worldwide tipping point if we fail. We do need to hear from scholars of fascism, from experts on Christian nationalism, from military experts on how coups work. We need to understand insurgencies, hybrid and irregular warfare, because that’s what this is. All of it needs to be put in the context of the psychological war being waged on us by foreign and domestic enemies. But it really appears no one in the press or the government has a goddamn clue. Having a chirpy conversation about how SCOTUS isn’t playing nice in the sandbox anymore is missing the entire point. It doesn’t matter now. What matters is how to DEFEAT it. That’s it. How do we cut it loose and seal off the damage, or make such a show of force they have no choice but to disband themselves? It’s not going away and it is absolutely trying to kill us. We should not allow them back in that building. In the meantime, these people on my TV are deer in the headlights, all of them. It’s mind-blowing. This atom bomb detonated in the government by this Confederate Court still somehow MUST be shoved into the same old legal/political framing, when it just doesn’t have anything to do with the law or politics. This is a military style coup. It’s being done very professionally. By people who are doing it publicly, across numerous spheres of society, and, the federal government. All the SCOTUS experts kept telling us how the institution would somehow survive these stresses. The cable hosts seem SHOCKED, I tell you, that they would do such a thing as anoint a king. Well, it hasn’t survived, and no one should be shocked. SCOTUS is a criminal, fascist adversarial entity that has taken over a third of the US government. It cannot be negotiated with, it must be defeated. Where are the strategists? Where are the goddamned leaders around here? This is an open coup and the hard part hasn’t even started yet. Are we so bereft of people willing to stand up and do more than complain? So far we have a Bedwetters Brigade and nothing more. Are we just going to watch them do Vichy Kabuki ALL the way down the drain? Or are we going to stand up against this?
