Vacancies are actually higher than 309. MSCS has filled about 100 roles since the first day of school, according to documents that Feagins presented to board members this evening. Special education roles have the greatest number of openings, and no candidates in review.

In yesterday's @nytimes ' opinion page. 21% of Black adults in Tennessee have lost their right to vote because of a felony. And while the state allows a path for clemency, it is absurdly complicated & burdensome. Nearly 500,000 people cannot vote here. nytimes.com/2024/09/09/opi…

Quick reminder that Tennessee is discussing removing federal funding from its school systems that cannot levy their own taxes, unlike many other state school systems. The systems would — and already do — have to convince local bodies to increase taxes for their benefit

@norinrad10 @ldtestino That said - there has been discussion that Metro Govt hasn't levied taxes to the extent other local county govts has.

@ldtestino Looked at old article, MNPS can bring a property tax increase vote if they feel the need. TISA I’m well versed in and that should scare people a lot more then this federal funding discussion. But what do I know ? Everyone is smarter then me till they’re not
