It was an honour to stand at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and to witness the Last Post at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. From Europe, we remember with gratitude the sacrifice and courage of the many Australians who stood beside us in the long and fragile pursuit of peace and freedom. “They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them.”

Good call with @chrisluxonmp Our relations are going from strength to strength. Trade is thriving. We are building on the recent Business Summit and our dialogue with CPTPP. Already 22 Horizon Europe partnerships are bringing our best minds together. And we are full steam ahead with the dialogue towards a Security and Defence Partnership! 🇪🇺🇳🇿

Australia is one of the world’s most important producers of critical raw material. In contrast, Europe is one of the world’s major users. So today, we agreed on four major projects, covering production of rare earths, lithium, and tungsten. And we also agreed to launch negotiations on Australia’s accession to Horizon, Europe’s flagship innovation programme!

10 jaar geleden werd Brussel getroffen door een aanslag die ze nooit meer zal vergeten. Vandaag herdenken we de slachtoffers en hun geliefden die tot op de dag van vandaag een verlies met zich meedragen, een wond die de tijd niet kan helen. Vandaag staan we, net als in 2016, eensgezind samen. Solidair en vastbesloten om onze gemeenschappelijke waarden te beschermen.

10 years since Brussels was attacked in a way it will never forget. Today, we think of the victims and their loved ones who still carry a loss that time cannot heal. Today, as in 2016, we stand united. In solidarity and determined to protect our common values.

On competitiveness, what matters now is to move fast. Building on today’s discussion, the Commission will soon present its “One Europe, One Market” Roadmap. Making Europe simpler and faster for people and businesses. Removing barriers inside our Union, deepening the Single Market. And getting things done. The Roadmap will set out the key measures, with clear timelines for delivery by 2027.

Timely meeting with @antonioguterres. Repercussions of the war in the Middle East are global, and it is our responsibility to work for de-escalation and a diplomatic solution. The EU and its Member States are the largest contributor to the @UN. We are strongly committed to upholding international law and building a world where multilateral cooperation prevails.

Dear President @Christodulides Europe stands in full solidarity with Cyprus, amid the instability caused by the crisis in the Middle East. Together, we continue engaging on de-escalation, continuing our work with regional partners. Tomorrow at EUCO, we will discuss how to cushion the impact of this crisis on our European economy. Especially on energy. I will work closely on this with you and @CY2026EU.

Our social market economy is what protects Europe’s social fabric in these volatile times. And we must strengthen it even further. As we design solutions to the current crises, it is vital to engage closely with the social partners. I’m thankful for our close cooperation.
