@timsuffield @AJWTheology The significance is Jesus statement about the temple in John 2 which took place in 30 CE after He started His ministry in 29 CE, 40 years before temple destruction
English

@AJWTheology Yes, there's definitely something here. For all I was persuaded of the AD33 date, this is the only thing making me wonder about AD30.

@wpcguy @Deep_biblestudy He was born in September 29, 2 BC and Herod died in 1 BC early

Jesus was born on or about Tishri 3, AM 3758, on the Hebrew calendar, which is on or about October 1, 2 BC, on the Julian calendar, which means, contrary to what many have surmised, Herod the Great was very much alive at the time.
According to Josephus, it was after a total eclipse of the moon on Shevat 15, 3760 AM, Jan. 10, 1 BC, that Herod's died, on Adar(I) 3, 3760 AM, Jan. 28, 1 BC, "the fifth day after he had caused Antipater to be slain." (𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐗𝐕𝐈𝐈, 𝐯𝐢𝐢𝐢, 𝟏.)
Joseph and Mary returned from Egypt to Nazareth with Jesus following Herod's death.

Matthew & Luke contradict on Jesus’ birth year! No, They don’t. 👇
Matthew: “Jesus was born in the days of Herod the king” (Matt 2:1).
Herod the Great died early 4 BC, Jesus born 6–4 BC.
Luke NEVER SAYS it was the AD 6 census most people think of.
2/5
Luke 2:1–2 (Greek literally):
“And it came to pass in those days… that this registration FIRST (πρώτη) took place while Quirinius was governing Syria.”
SCRIPTURE ITSELF DISTINGUISHES TWO REGISTRATIONS under Quirinius:
Acts 5:37 mentions the later, famous one that caused the revolt of Judas the Galilean (AD 6).
Luke 2:2 calls the one at Jesus’ birth the “FIRST ” — meaning an EARLIER ONE.
3/5
Jesus was “about 30” when He began His ministry in the 15th year of Tiberius (Luke 3:1, 23) — that’s AD 28–29.
30 years before AD 28–29 = ~3 BC.
Even Luke’s own timeline points to ~6–3 BC, not AD 6.
4/5
BOTH Gospels AGREE the family ends up in Nazareth:
Matthew 2:22–23 – after returning from Egypt “he went and lived in a town called Nazareth.”
Luke 2:39 – after the Temple rites “they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth.”
Same destination, same childhood home. No contradiction.
5/5
Bottom line from Scripture:
Born while Herod was still king (Matt 2:1) ✓
Born at the “FIRST ” registration under Quirinius (Luke 2:2) ✓
An earlier census/enrollment ~6–5 BC fits perfectly.

@Deep_biblestudy Josephus dated wrong, here’s journal article showing . jstor.org/stable/pdf/254…
English

@VVaby_ According to jewish philosopher Flavius Josephus it was 4 BC when he died.
English

@YahwehGraced The evidence points to His death in 33 CE actually on Friday April 3. Also a lunar eclipse appeared on this date, unlike in 30 CE, which affirms Peter saying blood money prophecy fulfilled in Joel in Pentecost, and lunar eclipse looks like blood moon
English

@YahwehGraced And Jesus didn’t die on Passover He died on the day of preparation of Passover as John 19:42 says and the next day was a holy sabbath , which means it was nisan 15 the first day was a holy convocation) , again pointing to his death on Friday which was Nisan 14 in 33 CE
English

@YahwehGraced But 3 days and 3 nights is euphemism for 3 days, if you are right the Bible is in contradiction . Mark 8:31 says he will rise from the dead after three days. Matthew 16:21 says he will rise from the dead on the third day. Only way to harmonize is that they are synonymous for3days

English

@YahwehGraced Also the Talmud shows this saying part of the day is like that of an entire day

English

@YahwehGraced Right three days ago (if it’s your view) from Sunday would be Thursday , which means Wednesday isn’t right. However like I said three days and 3 nights is euphemism for three days. Any part of day is counted as full day, so He died Friday 1) Saturday 2, rose Sunday (3)
English

@YahwehGraced If it was literal it would be on the fourth day in these passages (such as Wednesday - Sunday) but it’s not
English

@YahwehGraced These two examples show three days and 3 nights is an expression for three days
