#DEFCON I love you. Thanks to everyone who packed my Post-Quantum Panic talk, to the #defcon33 crew for making everything go smoothly, and to my friends at @quantum_village for being amazing as always.

I am so proud of @V__Wave and @LargeCardinal for creating something out of nothing. The Quantum Village gives all quantum hackers a place to question the nature of our reality, and is making a huge positive difference in the world.

Quantum sensors can be used in medical technologies, navigation systems, and more, but they're too expensive for most people. That's where the Uncut Gem open source project comes in. wired.com/story/fully-op…

It is simply a fact: in the modern world, we need more quantum hackers!
Hackers push the limits of technology and improve the world around us. They are a powerful force for positive change in traditional IT, robotics, aviation, biotech, space systems, and every other domain requiring advanced engineering.
Increasingly, our world is being shaped by quantum-based systems. Quantum science has enabled advanced microelectronics, improved our laptop and TV screens, and given us flash memory, accelerometers, gyroscopes, and much of the technology inside our smartphones. Quantum systems are also enhancing our security. All signs point to the reality that this incredible revolution in quantum science and engineering is just getting started. Soon, quantum systems will drive breakthroughs in bioengineering. And one day, they will allow us to use the very nature of reality to improve our ability to compute and understand the universe.
All these advances are giving us an extraordinary world, but there are challenges.
There is virtually no education for our youth on quantum science. Newtonian physics remains important, but excluding knowledge of how the universe truly works is a tragedy that holds humanity back.
And too many quantum systems are built in secret, making them difficult to explore and understand.
Fortunately, a growing community of brilliant quantum experts is committed to openness, collaboration, and sharing. I’ve met many outstanding quantum hackers. They gather each year at DEF CON’s Quantum Village, and continue the conversation throughout the year at other Quantum Village events. This welcoming group enjoys helping anyone with a desire to learn how to hack quantum systems.
Now, the Quantum Village has announced a major step forward: they’ve released a fully open-source framework, including software and build instructions for a quantum sensor.
Yes, this is a fully open-source, hackable quantum sensor!
Anyone can now build a quantum sensor. Using this open framework, you’ll create a working magnetometer with full access to modify and experiment with every aspect of the hardware and software.
