She was rushed to one of the best private hospitals in the city with severe abdominal pain. 45 minutes waiting to see a doctor. 3 hours waiting for an ultrasound. 1 hour waiting for a report because "that's the policy." By the time the report arrived, the doctor who ordered it had already left. Then came more waiting for blood tests, more waiting for cardiac clearance, and more waiting for reports. The entire time, an elderly woman lay there groaning in unbearable pain. He even had health insurance but skipped the claim process because he didn't want more paperwork and delays. He just kept paying every bill to save time. Nearly an entire day passed. Healthcare in India is not the same for every citizen. If you have influence, contacts, and people inside the system, emergencies can move incredibly fast. If you're an ordinary family, your emergency often becomes a queue number. The difference isn't the illness. The difference is who you know.
