You're right that it's not about being poor, though. Hasan wants all to be as wealthy as possible without exploitation.

This actually makes Hasan cooler. He's rich and yet he actually advocates for policies that would help others who are not rich and negatively impact his taxes. He's a class traitor among the rich, it's why he's loved. Socialism isn't about being poor, it's about the rich caring for the society they live in and contributing to it fairly.
