@colinwalker79 All the solar panels are from China. And the wind turbines are imported. The solar & wind industry is owned by foreign companies. Nothing British about Uk renewables, they are all dependent on imports

Britain's electricity is its 'most British' in over 20 years Just 46 per cent of the energy was imported, while 53 per cent was generated in the UK dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/ar…

@ret_ward @TiceRichard Climate change is real but so are the “end of world “ ideologies. If you constantly get sea level rises, climate disasters & end of world prophecies wrong. You lose credibility. So be realistic and sensible. The list of world end due to climate change dates have been so wrong.

In my Mansion House speech, I made clear: the Strait of Hormuz must be fully reopened, without restrictions or tolls. The blocking of this vital waterway is hitting trade around the world and prices here at home. Freedom of navigation means navigation must be free.

@Keir_Starmer It is in the British nation not to be dependent on solar panels & wind turbines from China. The Uk also must not be dependent on oil gas imports. Use local North Sea gas/oil & build new Uk self-sufficient nuclear.

@Ed_Miliband It will take decades to stop using oil/gas. So until then use local North Sea oil/gas instead of imported oil/gas. Norway is the best example for fossil fuels & France for nuclear. Learn from them. Stop your rollercoaster renewables Russian roulette.

@ret_ward It is pure fantasy that the Uk can ever be self-sufficient with renewables. So far renewables have proved to be high cost, unreliable & dependent on imports for solar panels & wind industry. Like France We need new nuclear fast.

* Solar panels are 90%+ recyclable and their copper components are 100% recyclable. * Land hosting solar panels can boost biodiversity. * Land hosting solar can easily be converted back into to land for food production or, indeed, be used concurrently for food production.

Do you know what happens to the land when solar panels are removed? Do you know when we will run out of copper to make them work? Do you know the TRUE cost? @Ed_Miliband would rather you didn’t.

@Lon82132431 @WulfrunianChris Solar/wind unreliable, so add cost with slave labour unsustainable batteries, which are toxic increase our dependence as they are made in China. So we build another expensive solution to fix the useless batteries. Is there a pattern here of systemic failure. Want to know more.

This solar farm could basically power the entirety of a large town while still being used as grazing land for animals. This is a win-win for farmers who get to diversify their income, and residents who get to benefit from energy security.
The Telegraph@Telegraph

☀️ Ed Miliband has approved Britain’s biggest solar farm despite objections from nearby residents who likened it to Chernobyl. It will cover seven square miles of farmland in solar panels, an area 10 times greater than London’s Hyde Park. 🔗: telegraph.co.uk/business/2026/…

@Keir_Starmer So use local North Sea oil/gas and reduce the dependence on imports. Replace imported oil/gas with North Sea oil/gas. Rollercoaster wind/gas creates a Russian roulette electricity generation system. We saw in Spain where renewables killed 180 people.

@TrisOsborneMP It is not happening every day, you just talk about it 2 days per week when it does. Solar works 2 days a week, wind works 3 days per week. There is a climate change scientific CV consensus that renewables are unreliable. From Dec to February renewables were useless.

It’s happening nearly every day… Every kWh generated from renewables is less use of oil / gas at a time of anxiety and volatility in the Middle East. Let’s power ahead⚡️
National Energy System Operator@neso_energy

Yesterday #wind produced 45.3% of British electricity, more than nuclear 17.2%, solar 11.9%, imports 11.3%, gas 9.8%, biomass 4.5%, hydro 0.0%, *excl. non-renewable distributed generation

First they said ‘new North Sea oil and gas with bring down energy bills’. That was debunked. Then they claimed ‘it would generate loads of tax revenue’. Also debunked. Then they claimed it would create new jobs. Yes, debunked. Now we’re onto tiny new investment claims…🥱
William Clouston SDP@WilliamClouston

Rachel Reeves is deliberately blocking £17.5bn of North Sea oil and gas investment via the punitive windfall tax. All establishment parties have deliberately sabotaged our home oil and gas industry, which results in: ✖️Higher Imports ✖️Increased Debt ✖️De-industrialisation ✖️Poverty End this foolishness...

@jonburkeUK Delusional, wishful thinking. by drilling local North Sea oil/gas less co2 is produced due to no need for transport of foreign imports. Uk jobs and taxes increase. Please explain why Norway discovers more North Sea/oil gas, reduces dependence on imports, increases jobs & taxes.

@Ed_Miliband @neso Not sustainable. Solar does not produce electricity when we need it during cold winter nights. Uk solar industry is dependent on foreign solar imports these are fake renewables. They also produce electricity 2 days per week. 180 people died in Spain due to rollercoaster solar.

@DaleVince Lack of wind in winter & no sun at night time for solar exposes dependence on the weather. We do not know how much damage does to the environment, animals & people. We need to use the precautionary principle in regulating renewables.

Very interesting report this - at 2 degrees of climate warming we’ll be paying the equivalent of an oil war every year - Reform and the Tories need to pay attention - avoiding the worst effects of the climate crisis is in our vital national interest. It would be 'net stupid' to ignore the facts - the climate crisis is an economic crisis. theguardian.com/environment/20…

@ret_ward @TiceRichard Bob you are wrong and losing credibility. Uk using North Sea oil/gas reduces imported oil/gas plus reducing the co2 created during the transport of the imports. Uk reduces dependence on foreign imports, therefore Uk becomes safer. The exporting country reduces oil/gas drilling.

@ret_ward @ClaireCoutinho @KemiBadenoch @royalsociety There are poor families in the Uk who suffer because of green experiments, while politicians play net zero games. And use populist policies to virtue signal. Uk emits 1% of global CO2. So Uk net zee is absolutely irrelevant in solving climate change, but it may get votes.

The assertion that 'all N Sea gas is pumped directly to UK homes' is easily disproved by a cursery Google. It's so much more complicated than Neil is making out. But he's doubling down on the moronic #drillbabydrill rhetoric. He seems to be getting very agitated.

Andrew Neil@afneil

Your mind is clearly blown because you have no idea what you’re talking about. Let’s just take gas. All of it comes by pipeline into the UK and is used in the UK. Oil is a bit more complicated but I’ll let you grapple with the facts about gas before moving on to that. Let me know if you have any questions about gas. Happy to help.
