He waited until their mother was at work, convinced the babysitter to leave, then went into Ella’s room and stabbed her 17 times. Bennett later said the attack was not a loss of control. It was meant to punish his mother by taking away the person she loved most. He admitted he chose not to kill his mother because he wanted her to live with the pain for the rest of her life.
