Obama probably deserves more blame for ruining American racial relations than any living person.

Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach. The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.

At 95, Katherine Jackson is still being cared for exactly as Michael Jackson intended.
Since his passing in 2009, she’s received about $67,000 a month from his estate totaling nearly $55 million. But much of that money doesn’t stay with her. It helps support her children and grandchildren, with significant monthly amounts going to LaToya, Rebbie, and Jermaine Jackson.
Michael had set aside 40% of his estate to ensure his mother would always be taken care of a decision that continues to shape the family today.

Jackson later said:

The Voting Rights Act was the crowning achievement of the Civil Rights movement. The law that finally made America a true democratic republic. John Lewis was beaten nearly to death to get it passed. Dr. King gave his life to the cause. Today, the Supreme Court gutted it.
Whatever your politics, understand that this bill was the legal infrastructure of equal participation in our democracy. I'm a Southerner. I grew up in Tennessee. I know what these states look like without voting protection. This is a devastating blow to American democracy.
