MAX's true crime documentary, "They Called Him Mostly Harmless" is bringing new national attention to Tabitha Queen's case. Tabitha Queen of Bastrop, Louisiana was last seen on Mother's Day May 9, 2021. Tabitha's mother, Mary Lunsford, spoke to her 29-year-old daughter on the phone before she seemingly vanished. “There were two men in the car with her and I asked her who was she talking to, and she was like, ‘Uh, mom I got to go,’ and I was like, ‘What you mean you got to go? And she hung up the phone. I called right back, and her phone went to voicemail,” Mary told local news outlets. Tabitha Queen's family discovered her three children home alone. Mary's 11-year-old granddaughter, Alice, told informed authorities that her mom was arguing with a man that she had allowed to use her car a few days prior. Alice told stated that a man took her mother and her mother never returned. Tabitha has never been found. Tabitha was 5'4" and weighed 230 pounds when she vanished. If you have any information, please contact the Bastrop Police Department at 318-281-1322. Watch "They Called Him Mostly Harmless" now on MAX. @StreamOnMax

“The best documentaries turn the camera back on us, asking why we’re interested in the first place,” notes NYT critic Alissa Wilkinson. “‘They Called Him Mostly Harmless’ questions the certainties that onlookers, uninvolved in a person’s life, project onto true-crime stories.”
New York Times Arts@nytimesarts

Two new documentaries this week reflect the range of quality in the booming true-crime genre. They also raise questions about why we are drawn to such stories, writes our critic, @alissamarie nyti.ms/48apHEi
