For years, oil has been traded in US dollars, which is a major reason the dollar dominates globally. But moves like this open the door for oil to be traded in other currencies. That weakens the dollar’s dominance over time. The ongoing conflicts have only accelerated this shift. Countries are now looking for alternatives because dependence on one system has become risky.
