Jon Dahl Tomasson 🔍 The ex-Denmark, Newcastle and AC Milan forward first stepped into coaching with assistant roles at Excelsior, Roda JC, Vitesse, and the Denmark national team. Malmö FF (2020-2021) JDT took charge and immediately delivered Allsvenskan titles in 2020 and 2021 before requesting to leave. Blackburn Rovers (2022-2024) At Blackburn, Tomasson carried on the good work of his predecessor, Tony Mowbray, as they finished in 7th place in his first season at the club, narrowly missing out on the playoffs due to goal difference after an eight match winless run. However, his second season proved more difficult. Despite having the leagues’ top scorer in Sammie Szmodics and now-England international Adam Wharton, Rovers were left in a relegation battle. JDT had a public falling out with club captain, Lewis Travis, who was sent out on loan to Ipswich Town in January. The ending of Tomasson's time at Blackburn has coincided with a difficult off-field situation, which the Dane himself described as "very serious" when asked if there was a crisis at the club. It emerged that a budget cut during the summer had almost precipitated an earlier exit for the former Malmo boss, but he continued in the role. JDT came in for criticism from fans as it was widely rumoured that he had “lost the dressing room” and complaints were made about his in-game management with a failure to make substitutions early enough. After no wins in eight and only one win in eleven, Tomasson left Blackburn Rovers by mutual consent. Sweden National Team (2024-2025) Tomasson began holding talks with the Sweden national team months before he left Blackburn Rovers, and said he wanted to join right away before Christmas, two months before he left Blackburn. When he took over, expectations were high with a star studded front line, including Liverpool's Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres of Arsenal. But the start of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers was a disaster: Sweden scored only 2 goals in the first 4 matches and sat at the bottom of their group. Media and fans labelled the 1-0 home defeat to Kosovo national football team as “a total disgrace”. There’s commentary that his system “didn’t suit the squad’s strengths”. Reports of “open conflicts” between Tomasson and players appeared once again, with Robin Olsen ended his national career citing Tomasson’s regime as the reason. A leaning toward strict, performance-based selection: Tomasson said he “doesn’t look at names. I look at achievements.” Some say this alienated senior players. He tried to shift Sweden toward more attacking, possession-style football, but many argue this came at the cost of their traditional defensive solidity. His public statements sometimes came across as blunt or confrontational. For example: “Those who are disappointed or bitter should look in the mirror.” Sweden sacked Jon Dahl Tomasson following a poor start to their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with them bottom of Group B with one point from four games following a 1-0 defeat against Kosovo. Norwich City can confirm that the club have parted company with head coach Liam Manning. Assistant head coach Chris Hogg and first-team coach analyst James Krause have also left the club.

One huge concern is that Mark Attanasio is keeping faith with Liam Manning and Ben Knapper. An even bigger issue is him not even staying to watch the Hull game, it feels like everybody in power currently doesn't care enough about this football club #ncfc
