Player: Ivy Team: Relicanth Rationale Today's player is Ivy. The player with a plan, a consistent force to be reckoned with in the TNT draft league. Ivy is a very creative builder and that is one of the key advantages in their gameplay. I recently got a chance to talk to them and they said one of their biggest downfalls is overthinking the simple stuff. This I totally get, I feel like a lot of creative players/builders run into the problem of trying to conquer Mount Everest when all they have to do is walk over the ant hill. They started playing competitive pokemon in Generation 8, a little before Crown Tundra released. Their favorite pokemon to use in draft is that of Enamorus-Incarnate, a versatile pokemon that leads to a lot of possibilities for the player. I know Ivy can make a deep run this season, you know Ivy can make a deep run this season, we all know Ivy can make a deep run this season. However they would also like 2 messages to be known to the world, they want to say "Hi Tyler :)" and "Stan Gwen (She/They)". Player: Mathias (@Shuckle_Enj0yer) Team: Core Enforcers The fellow New Zealander, the one that enforces the cores, it's Mathias. Mathias is a long-time player in the TNT draft league and is ready to go at it in another season. I caught up with them recently and they told me that this season it's back to the basics. We ain't going to try to reinvent the wheel, but we are going to keep it clear and simple for the draft. Use what works, and Mathias is going to slow down and get the job done. Like many players Mathias is grinding Champions and they think that will be a boon to them as well. Their downfall in draft is that, like many other players, when drafting their team ends up without an identity and has to be patched up throughout the season. They also mention hasty play. Their first VGC experience you may ask? Season 4 of the TNT Draft League, a fantastic draft league with an even better twitter user at the helm. Mathias also mentions their love of Ting-Lu and I think many longtime TNT enjoyers, will always remember the triple fissure. No matter if it's fissure, if it's a bulky steel type, or anything else Mathias has you covered. They are prime to make a name for themselves this season and I hope all of you watch as they do. Player: Olive (@VaranusE) Team: Minnesota Mences Today's player bio is all about Olive! The artist formerly known by the name of Laz, Olive this season is sporting a gameplan of drafting pokemon they are comfortable with. They feel like they have a great grasp of the pokemon within the format and feel like it should help them a ton. In prior seasons they were able to take versatile pokemon and use creative teambuilding strategies to win sets. Pokemon like Grimmsnarl and Salamence have been their go to. Olive has played since 2017, but really jumped into the competitive end of things in 2022. One big drawback that they feel they have, is that they don't have a clear view of what they want in their draft until deep into the season. Definitely can empathize with that as I feel like my drafts can also not develop until deep into the season. Olive is a supremely talented player that can make a lot of different pokemon work and I am very excited to see how they play this season! Moving towards tomorrow, it's their kiwi counterpart Mathias, on deck!
