When I'm traveling for work, from Bengaluru to another tier 1 Metro or tier 2 town anywhere in India, and I'm starved of time in between meetings, what are my options in terms of reasonably quick and reasonably priced healthy food? Heart-healthy vegetarian food, particularly in my case? Before my angioplasty in August 2025, I used to default to a McDonald's Paneer Burger meal. I can never get tired of it, and heart scare last year ensured that I did :) Since then, more often than not, I have defaulted to Subway's vegetable salad (with paneer added for protein, and all the vegetables that they have). Subway is usually ubiquitous in many towns, easy to find even in food courts in most malls or airports, and a Google search for 'Subway near me' with my meeting or client location as anchor usually gets one for me in the 1-3 kms vicinity. It's also very quick and clean to eat with a spork (spoon + fork contraption they give us). I also add very little sauces on it - usually sweet onion and honey mustard, one squirt at best. My second default is California Burrito's Barbeque Paneer Salad without rice. California Burrito is not as ubiquitous as Subway, though. Particularly in places like airports. What else can I consider that is... (a) Ubiquitous (so I don't waste time searching? + (b) Reasonably priced (say, under Rs.300-500)? + (c) Standardized, repeatable, low-variance option? I have seen the menus of other standardized and ubiquitous chains like Starbucks and McDonald's (among others), but do not find anything that fits these criteria. Is this a good opportunity for, (a) Either a new chain in India that focuses exclusively on quick + healthy food options (less oil, no deep frying, more vegetables, fresh, healthy ingredients in general, low/no sugar/sodium)? (b) Or existing chains to add healthy options to their menu, and market those without antagonizing their already existing/popular mostly unhealthy options?
