There are very few people who not only know *exactly* what they are talking about (up the pff levels of knowledge), but are also delightful and funny. That's Vaughn. When he and I get together Mr I has to put a wet towel over his head and retire from the scene.

Vaughn and I met on a random domestic flight in America. He said, What do you do, and I said, I'm a historian, and he said, No, impossible, Let's go. Many hours later... He's fantastic, and an impeccable historian. It's my pleasure to know him.
