This is the first time I’m sharing this story online today. But if this is your only sign to believe and trust God, then take this from me because I am a living witness that God is real. Let me give you a backstory. When I came to Uyo, my intention was to stay with my sister. But my sister did not really have an apartment of her own. She was sharing an apartment with somebody then, but later she left to stay with one of her close friends. So when I came, I was basically like a plus one to them. After like a year, my sister’s friend packed out of the house. At that point, the rent had expired, so me and my sister had to take over the house and start paying the rent ourselves. Mind you, this was the period I had just started graphic designing newly. I was not making serious money yet. But somehow, I squeezed out money from different places just to pay the rent because we needed somewhere to stay. After they packed out, they carried everything in the house. Everything. You know how houses are now. They packed with everything. Bed. Gas cooker. Appliances. Everything. So we were left in a completely empty house. When I say empty, I mean EMPTY. The house used to echo. There was no bed. No chair. Nothing. We were literally sleeping on the floor. Then the worst happened. My sister went to spend the night at one of our friend’s place, and while she was there, she got robbed. Her phone, valuables, everything got stolen. So she came back the next morning with absolutely nothing. I gave her one of my phones because I had two phones then. She put her SIM card there and logged into her account so she could reach out to some of our friends and explain what happened. Now, my sister had a boss then. A woman I genuinely admire till today. One day, I’ll make a separate post talking about how God used that woman to help us. So somehow, the news got to her boss. And her boss sent one of the workers to our house just to come check on my sister and tell her sorry. I didn’t even know somebody was coming. Then the guy came. And honestly? I was angry. Not because he came, but because I hated the embarrassment of someone seeing how empty our house was. I kept thinking: “What would he go outside and tell people?” “That these people don’t even have a bed?” “That they’re sleeping on the floor?” I hated it so much. He even sat on the floor to talk because there was nowhere else to sit. That moment was very embarrassing for me. After he left, I didn’t think anything of it. The next day, my sister’s boss called her and asked: “How much is a bed?” You people… I froze. Because this was something I had secretly been praying for. We genuinely did not have money to buy a bed. The only money we had managed to gather was rent money. Then this woman randomly asked: “How much is a bed?” Apparently, the guy that came to our house had gone back to tell her that we had no bed and that we were sleeping on the floor. The woman asked us for the price of a bed. Funny enough, we did not even know the actual price. We just called one amount randomly. And immediately, without stress, she sent the money. Like instantly. Everything was happening so fast it felt unreal. We were so happy. Only for us to go to the market and find out that a good bed was actually almost TWICE the amount we mentioned. We were disappointed immediately because there was no way we could go back and ask for more money after confidently giving her a price already. So we just came back home sad. Then God did something I will never forget in my life. My sister was having a random conversation with one of her friends. Just a random conversation. Then the friend casually mentioned: “Oh, one of my neighbors is travelling out and wants to sell all his properties.” My sister immediately asked: “Does he have a bed?” The friend said yes. I don't have issues in paying whatever you want to pay. But here's where exploitation comes in when you pay me 500k as a marketer and you expect me to also handle sales, emails and SMM, then you're wicked because you don't do the same over there. This year I have handled a project of 5m and also 50k naira. If you're paying me a token you will be getting a token from me too. Once your pay is low the quality and quantity of your work drops. I will not reject a 50k gig but I'm discussing everything and will tell you where your money ends. If you want more pay more.
