@Crisopera1 I think she has a better one in this masterpiece of Billy Wilder cynicism: “Mister, I’ve met some hard-boiled eggs in my time but you’re 20 minutes.”

@TheRealHoarse So what? It’s a couple of well paid athletes playing a game of hoops. What’s my age got to do with anything? It’s hardly Rudy T getting cold cocked by Kermit Washington.

@JanetMaslin I took Professor Sarris’ film class at Columbia and he was simply the most erudite speaker on film that I ever experienced. And he was funny too. Pauline Kael was a singular source of amusement during each class.

So glad they both landed high on The Hollywood Reporter’s list of 100 essential film books. Young critics don’t mention Sarris enough. He was a tremendously influential figure. “The American Cinema” paved the way for all the ranking and list-making we see today.

Martin Scorsese will adapt a nonfiction book about a white fbi guy and change the entire focus and heart of the film to be more about the Osage perspective and 14 year olds on here will still assume it’s gonna be a white savior flick or something and call him a racist old man

@MrChuckD MLB wants scoring, hits, HRs... i.e. action; 3 hour, 2-hit shutouts are not what fans want; hence, pitch clock, no shifts, 2 1/2 hours and you’re driving home.

@VanLathan Calm down. It’s been a couple of hours. They beat an eight seed Eastern conference squad with a mostly forgettable lineup. Forget Kareem; he hasn’t surpassed Shaq or Wilt in playoff dominance much less a six-time champion.
