The US Government imposes restrictions on patronizing establishments owned by the Cuban Government, figures within the Cuban Government, and the Cuban Military. End of story.
There's a small list of five star hotels that don't fall under those restrictions. No one forced him to stay there. He choose it. He wants to sip his cappuccino in his luxury suite with his pinky up, in his $1,300 eyeglasses, and lecture the world on egalitarianism.

Newsom needs California more than Harris does. He needs near monopoly control over its political machine and donor network for it to really sting Harris, and any other candidate for that matter.
The rub is that Harris has her fair share of deep, durable ties there too, across both the political apparatus and donor ecosystem. He might get a majority of it if you quantify it on a numerical scale. You almost expect him to. But she’ll retain more than a healthy minority. And that is something he can’t afford.
That’s why this line of attack is so overstated. An edge is not enough. He needs clean separation there in order to make it hurt, and she’s too embedded there for him to get it cleanly. That's why Harris critics holding up these state polls, and the arguments of Cali acting as a monolith are so.. farcical. lmao.

@VeryGewd Why do people think she’s not as connected to her donors as Newsom? He’s related to these people. Kamala worked her way into those circles. She has a Getty godchild. She had the Buells knocking doors for her. But people think she doesn’t know how they feel about supporting her?

Harris doesn’t need to beat Newsom in a California primary, and I definitely don’t need a poll to tell me that. She just needs to keep him from owning it, and that she can for sure do. Same thing with the donors.

Harris would not beat Newsom in a California primary, and I don't need a poll to tell me that. California donors will also give to Newsom before they give to Kamala. She should take that into consideration before deciding to run again.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that she blow off California. She should win it, to give Newsom a black eye. But I think the finer point is that some people are trying to use early state polls to box her in, when it's not a state that everything hinges on. And using a poll that, like you said, won't even remotely resemble how Cali will vote once the race starts.

People who are saying how they will vote now either won't vote because they are not Democrats or will change their minds after the primary kicks off.
