🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 The Gulf is racing to make its oil "strait-proof," with pipelines that could bypass 60% of Hormuz dependence by 2028... -Gulf producers are rushing pipelines and a new port to break Iran's grip on the waterway that carried 20% of the world's oil -Goldman Sachs estimates bypass capacity could divert 45% of pre-war Gulf exports by end of 2027, and 7.3 million barrels daily, 60 PERCENT, by end of 2028 -The UAE's West-East Pipeline is 50% complete with a 2027 completion order, doubling overland capacity to 3.6 million barrels a day -Iraq's $1.5 billion Basra-Haditha line would carry 2.5 million barrels toward Jordan, Syria, and Turkey, while Saudi Arabia eyes expanding its Red Sea pipeline to 9 million barrels -The UAE is also planning a new Arabian Sea port to rival Jebel Ali, importing goods without touching the strait -The catch: 7-9 million barrels daily will still depend on Hormuz, and the Red Sea alternative runs through Houthi missile range The infrastructure is the war's most permanent verdict. Iran spent decades building leverage on a chokepoint, spent this war monetizing it with tolls and protection payments, and the customers' answer is to engineer the chokepoint out of existence. Every mile of pipe laid is leverage Tehran never gets back, exactly the "great alternatives" Trump previewed. The strait won't stop mattering, but by 2028 it stops being a GUN to the world's head.
