After almost 10 years of not leaving the browser, @jdevalk just made me use iTerm again.
I had no idea it would make me feel this nerdy to see the commands scroll by on my screen...
I'M LOVING IT!

@KatieKeithBarn2 We have an event every year in June and use a shortcode to automatically change the date. We use that in Yoast also so our search results show the current year for the event. It’s a useful feature.

It's clear the #WordPress world needs a change. So I wrote a post about exactly that:

I've been noticing a trend with @fluentforms support: I've reported at least 2 bugs. First they delay for 2-8 months, then they inform me that the behavior is actually a feature or won't be fixed. Frustrating to say the least.

@BristolBearsW You can catch Ilona in action in the @ThePWR live on @TNTSports and @discoveryplusUK🌟

@DuaneStorey I think the same applies: anyone can build a website for free with WP. I think if you peek under the hood, most open source communities have issues and drama. I don’t think that reflects on the license per se. Closed source probably suffers more from these peripheral issues

@VicDrover I agree, my specific question was with regards to GPL in WordPress. I don't see linux stealing packages from their authors like Automattic is doing with plugins.
English

Honest question - has the GPL really helped #WordPress or its users?
It seems like the only thing that's happening with GPL in WordPress is that it gives some companies license to sell nulled plugins, and others the apparent license to outright steal them like ACF.
Are there any cases of average users doing something useful with it? It seems to me like the only people benefiting from the GPL are outright competitors in the space, not the average end-user, who I would argue generally doesn't care about the license.
I feel like the GPL has become sort of like crypto - a neat idea that mostly just leads to bad actors doing bad things with it.

@SteveJBurge Trust is critical. I think in this case, the existing case law shows the GPL is enforceable. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_sour…

@jdevalk I’d love to chat with you about this. I’ve been doing similar for my local rugby club.
English

@SteveJBurge Better learn cloud infrastructure ASAP. You’re probably not getting away with a basic hosting account or simple VPS.
English

@SteveJBurge I hope it opens things up too. However, it could be disastrous also….
English

@SteveJBurge Not so frozen these days. I’m golfing March through November!

@topher1kenobe Does the checkbox mean anything if the terms of service are not updated?
