This Bill does not protect families living in basement suites, duplexes, triplexes, or a converted house, which is the majority of tenants in places like Saanich or Delta. Placing the onus on tenants to file against their landlord is to be ok with the threat of landlord violence.

This Bill restricts rent increases when a tenant adds a child under 19 to their household - even if the tenancy agreement states rent will increase with new occupants. Nobody should have their rent increased just because they had a baby - this will put an end to that. 🧵[2/6]
