1.72M #BTC sits in old P2PK addresses - public keys exposed on-chain since 2009-2012. If quantum ever matures, whoever runs Shor's on those keys can spend the coins. We are very happy that today Apple issued a patch and a security advisory. This comes following @404mediaco reporting that the FBI accessed Signal message notification content via iOS despite the app being deleted. Apple’s advisory confirmed that the bugs that allowed this to happen have been fixed in the latest iOS release. You can read more here: support.apple.com/en-us/127002 Note that no action is needed for this fix to protect Signal users on iOS. Once you install the patch, all inadvertently-preserved notifications will be deleted and no forthcoming notifications will be preserved for deleted applications. We’re grateful to Apple for the quick action here, and for understanding and acting on the stakes of this kind of issue. It takes an ecosystem to preserve the fundamental human right to private communication.

In late 2023, French streamer TeufeurS was extorted for a ransom after a family member was kidnapped in France. I can finally share that I helped lead efforts that resulted in an ~$800K freeze with the Binance Security team after a $2M ransom was paid. Six suspects tied to the incident were later arrested. Given the sensitivity of the case, I held off commenting until now. I have since assisted with asset freezes and identifying culprits in several of the recent France home invasion robberies, and hope to share details in the coming months. If you or someone you know falls victim, reach out as soon as possible rather than delay. I prioritize these types of cases as they have grown more frequent amidst this disturbing trend.

I strongly advise no one to ever give Bitcoin Depot ATMs your business. -Why was an elderly fraud victim recently allowed to convert $25K fiat to BTC via Bitcoin Depot ATM in the US? -Why was the victim quoted at $108K per BTC when market price is $75K? 🚨LATEST: Anthropic confirms breach of Claude Mythos model and has launched an investigation into the unauthorized access, per bloomberg. Attackers used contractor login credentials of a compromised third party vendor and guessed internal URLs to access multiple unreleased models. The group reportedly gained access on launch day despite the model being restricted to 40 firms due to cybersecurity risks Anthropic says “no evidence of impact to core systems has been found so far.”
