Maybe I just need to accept that Quentin Dupieux just isn’t for me. I’ve been mildly amused by some of his previous work, but if you can’t make a two-hander starring Woody Harrelson as a man who literally keeps getting larger while his daughter, played by Kristen Stewart, continuously eats throughout the film even somewhat funny, then you’ve got even bigger problems. FULL PHIL is silly and absurd purely for the sake of it, with characters who become more irritating as the film progresses. Barely laughed at all during this, other than a reoccurring joke involving Charlotte Le Bon. Mercifully, it’s short at only 78 minutes long, but there’s very little here that feels fulfilling.
